The city police on Thursday arrested two people for illegally occupying a house of a document writer at Rathinapuri. Police are on the look out for one more person in connection with the case. A Thennarasu (40), a city unit secretary of Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi, and his relative R Dhandapani (32) from Sivananda Colony, were arrested on Thursday by the police for illegally occupying a house owned by H Geetharani (42), a document writer residing at Hudco colony in Rathinapuri.Geetharani had bought the house from Vasudevan on February 18 by paying Rs 5.25 lakh. She had kept the house locked as there was no electricity connection.On February 20, Patel Balu from Hudco Colony broke open the front door and occupied the house with his family members. When Geetharani confronted Balu, he threatened her. Geetharani lodged a complaint with the police on Wednesday.Preliminary inquiry revealed that a few years ago, Dhandapani, a DMK functionary from Sivananda colony, had sold the house to Vasudevan, who in turn sold it to Geetharani.After Geetharani bought the house, Dhandapani and his relative Thennarasu from Madurai Veeran Nagar at Ondipudur hatched a conspiracy and took possession of the house with the help of Balu."When Geetharani asked Balu to vacate her house, the trio threatened her and refused to vacate the house," said V Rajavelu, inspector, Rathinapuri police station. Police verified the land registration and the encumbrance certificate and found that the house belonged to Geetharani."We have arrested Thennarasu and Dhandapani. The absconding accused Patel Balu will be nabbed soon," Rajavelu added.
