Female thamin deer dies in Allen Forest

A female thamin deer, around 15 years of age, died in Kanpur zoo two days back. The post-mortem examination was conducted by three veterinary doctors in presence of director K Thomas. The zoo now has has 28 thamin deer. It is an highly endangered animal.According to doctors, the animal died due to age related changes in its body. The dead deer was spotted by the keeper in the enclosure.Thamin deer are endangered and come under Schedule I of the Wildlife Protection Act. The number of animals had drastically reduced.Thomas confirmed that female deer died due to old age and the post-mortem examination was conducted in his presence.
