2002 riots: Judge's transfer to delay proceedings on Zakia Jafri's plea
Court proceedings on Zakia Jafri's complaint - against chief minister Narendra Modi and others with regard to the 2002 riots - will be delayed, as the metropolitan magistrate hearing the case, B J Ganatra, has been transferred to an Anand court.Ganatra is one of over 100 officers of the lower judiciary transferred across the state.The special investigation team (SIT) had already started arguments against Zakia's protest petition. The magistrate's transfer will stall proceedings for a while now. The further course will now be decided on May 15, which has been listed by the court for formal proceedings.The name of the metropolitan magistrate to preside over Court No. 11 has not been finalized yet.Meanwhile, CBI magistrate A Y Dave has been transferred to Godhra. It was before this additional chief judicial magistrate that CBI filed two chargesheets in the Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter case, and accused cop N K Amin proposed to become approver three years ago.
