Government watchdog calls for review of the use of foreign CCTV technology in Whitehall after a video of Matt Hancock clinch with Gina Coladangelo was leaked

A Government watchdog has called for a review into the use of foreign technology in Whitehall’s CCTV systems following the Matt Hancock ‘Gropegate’ scandal. Fraser Sampson, the Biometrics and Surveillance Camera Commissioner, has written to Cabinet Office Minister Michael Gove, stating: ‘There is a pressing need to clarify the Government’s position on the risks and considerations arising from the extra-territorial ownership of surveillance camera capabilities operating within the United Kingdom.’  The affair of former Health Secretary Mr Hancock with his aide Gina Coladangelo was revealed in June, after footage of them embracing taken by a camera in his office was leaked to the press. It led to false claims that he had fallen victim to a sting executed by a hostile foreign power such as China or Russia. Images and video showed Mr Hancock in an embrace with aide Gina Coladangelo inside his private office Mr Hancock resigned as Health Secretary less than 48 hours after pictures emerged o

'Masks are only for peasants, not the ruling class I guess': DC Mayor Muriel Bowser is slammed for partying MASKLESS with comedian Dave Chappelle - just hours before her latest face covering mandate came into effect

Washington DC Mayor Muriel Bowser has come under fire for partying without a mask just hours before her mandatory face covering order came back into effect.  As of 5AM Saturday, all residents and visitors in the nation's capitol are required to wear a mask in public indoor spaces, regardless of vaccination status, due to the spread of the COVID-19 Delta variant.  The Mayor has also urged people to don masks in 'large outdoor settings.' But it seems she wasn't taking her own advice on Friday night, as she went maskless at a large gathering with celebrity comedian Dave Chappelle.  Washington DC Mayor Muriel Bowser has come under fire after she was pictured partying without a mask just hours before her mandatory face covering order came back into effect. Australia's new golden girl Ariarne Titmus takes silver in the 800m freestyle in courageous swim against one of the greatest athletes of all time

Katie Ledecky has exacted revenge on arch-rival Ariarne Titmus with a stunning win in the women's 800m freestyle. America's greatest ever swimmer, who was red hot favourite for the event, dominated from start to finish to claim her seventh Olympic gold medal. Titmus had won the two previous individual races against the 24-year-old from the USA, with Ledecky having the last laugh in the fourth and final meeting between the two headline swimmers.  Ian Thorpe said pre-race there was a 10 second difference between Ledecky and Titmus' personal best times in the event, making it a near-impossible task for the young Aussie.  She finished with a silver in the race to take her personal haul to four medals including two gold and one bronze.  Katie Ledecky has exacted revenge on arch-rival Ariarne Titmus with a stunning win in the women's 800m freestyle Titmus finished with a silver in the race to take her personal haul to four medals including two gold and one bronze Ian Thorpe s

Aussie swimming sensation Kaylee McKeown claims her second gold medal in Tokyo - as Emily Seebohm bursts into tears after taking bronze in the same event and BOTH stand on the 1st place podium

Australian swimming champ Kaylee McKeown will take home her second gold medal after winning the 200m backstroke final at the Tokyo Olympics.  McKeown had hung slightly back for the majority of the event and was in second place at the final turn before powering through in the last 50m to take the lead with a time of two minutes and 4.68 seconds. Followed closely behind was Canada's Kylie Masse coming in at two minutes and 5.42 seconds with fellow Aussie swimmer Emily Seebohm winning the bronze.  McKeown, 20, pointed two fingers at the scoreboard in a gun-like shape before firing at it and blowing away the 'smoke' in a cheeky post-swim celebration. Saturday's win makes McKeown the first Australian woman to win gold in the 200m backstroke in Olympic history.  In a heartwarming display of true sportsmanship, McKeown asked Seebohm to stand beside her on the first place podium. The pair shared a hug as Seebohm placed McKeown's second gold medal around her neck. Speaking a

‘When did you go to medical school?’: Unvaccinated Capitol riot suspect is blasted by judge for refusing to wear mask for court hearing

An unvaccinated Capitol riot suspect and Proud Boys members was blasted by a federal judge for chewing through his masks during his arrest and then refused to wear one before his pretrial hearings.  Daniel Goodwyn allegedly chewed through at least five masks that the FBI gave him during his arrest in January and spit them out and then refused to wear one during a pretrial hearing in June.   In a virtual hearing Friday, US District Judge Reggie Walton said, 'We have a virus that is killing people. Why is it so hard to wear a mask?' Goodwyn said because it 'stresses out' and he doesn't believe masks reduced virus transmission.  Judge Walton snapped back like a rubber band: 'When did you go to medical school, sir? Do you have a medical degree?' Daniel Goodwyn, seen here livestreaming the storming of the Capitol, allegedly chewed his mask several times during his arrest Daniel Goodwyn is seen in this Twitter photo with his 'MAGA' hat Goodwyn’s mother sa

More exposure sites including an exclusive private school emerge in Brisbane just hours after south-east Queensland was thrown into its harshest lockdown yet

Two high schools - including the prestigious Brisbane Grammar School - are the latest to be caught up in the Covid outbreak in Queensland as the state endures another hard lockdown. On Saturday night, parents from BGS, which charges almost $28,000 in fees each year for students in years 7-12, were notified a pupil had tested positive to the virus. Anyone at the school's Spring Hill campus on July 28, 29 and 30 was ordered into home isolation until further advice was provided by Queensland Health. The development comes as St Peters Lutheran College in Indooroopilly, in Brisbane's west, also sent out an email to parents confirming the school had been identified by Queensland Health as a possible exposure site.    On Saturday morning, 11 LGAs in the Sunshine State were placed into a three-day lockdown from 4pm after six positive cases of the Delta strain of coronavirus were confirmed.  Brisbane Grammar School has been identified as a possible Covid exposure site - parents were i

Pauline Hanson launches a blistering attack on Scott Morrison labelling him a 'fool' who has 'lost control' of Australia in epic tirade about Queensland's three-day lockdown

Pauline Hanson has launched a blistering attack on Prime Minister Scott Morrison, saying he has 'lost control of Australia' while launching an epic tirade about Queensland's decision to plunge the parts of the state into a three-day lockdown. At 4pm on Saturday, the local government areas of Brisbane, Ipswich, Logan City, Moreton Bay, Redlands, Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast, Noosa, Somerset, Lockyer Valley and Scenic Rim faced the harshest restrictions the state has seen.  Residents in the affected areas can only leave home for essential work, study or child care, to exercise, buy food and supplies - and to receive healthcare, including being tested for COVID-19 or vaccinated against it.  Any non-essential travel must be within 10km from home, everyone must wear a mask when they are outside their home - and people doing exercise can do so with one person who does not live with them. 'This is not the Australia I emigrated to': Outrage as police fly helicopters over western Sydney backyards blasting sirens and warnings to enforce Covid rules and stop a repeat of last week's anti-lockdown rally

Up to 1,300 police swarmed Sydney on Saturday and setup a network of roadblocks around the city in a massive show of force to avoid a repeat of last week's violent anti-lockdown protest.   With officers scattered in seemingly every direction across the city, only eight arrests were made - a far cry from the chaotic scenes in the CBD seven days ago.  Police did issue more than 250 Penalty Infringement Notices across Sydney, with one man, 45, arrested at a home at Oatley after travelling on trains outside his local government area without a reasonable excuse.  He was taken to Kogarah Police Station and charged after breaching an imposed Public Safety Order . In the western suburbs, angry residents saw police helicopters hovering overhead while blaring sirens and broadcasting: 'This is public health order —do not break rules —you will be found and fines issued.'  'This is not the Australia I emigrated to,' a woman from North Parramatta told Daily Mail Australia.  '
