Fergie says Diana would be 'so proud' of Harry and Meghan who 'shouldn't be judged' and claims she 'destroyed herself' over Epstein scandal but is 'done being a people pleaser'

Sarah Ferguson said on Friday that Princess Diana would be 'so proud' of Harry and Meghan, who she thinks shouldn't be judged based on 'race, creed, color or any other denomination'.

Fergie, the Duchess of York who was married to Prince Andrew before divorcing in 1996, was speaking on Good Morning America to promote her new fictional book about royal life when she made the remarks defending Harry and Meghan.

'There should be no judgement on race, creed, color or any other denomination.

'I wish Harry and Meghan so much happiness. I know Diana would be so proud of her sons and their wives,' she said, when asked what she thought of how Meghan had been treated by the press.

She went on to say that she and Diana had it 'tough' with the British media in their day, and that she is now 'finding her voice' with her novel - Her Heart for a Compass: A Novel. It is about a 'rebel' royal in 1895.

'It was an extraordinary thing to realize we were selling papers rather than it being real. In the days of Diana and I, it was tough.

'You don't really have an opinion,' she said.

Fergie was then asked how she handles scandals like her ex-husband's friendship with the late pedophile Jeffrey Epstein, and claims that he had sex with a 17-year-old girl in London who Epstein introduced him to.

Prince Andrew has always denied the claims.

Fergie said she will 'always love Diana' and that it was 'tough' for them in the 1980s

'I have destroyed myself many times but the most important thing is to get up and get going,' she said.

Fergie is said to be in talks to turn her book into a Bridgerton-style period drama series.

She wasn't asked about those plans in her interview, which took place in the British countryside.

'Her is already in talks with at least one streaming service and will be approaching others once a 360-degree treatment of the book is finalised,' a source said, speaking to Variety, on Thursday.

'These will include Amazon and Netflix.

'Everyone involved is looking at the success of Bridgerton as a demonstration of the immense appeal of period drama on streaming services.'

Sarah, who is mother to Princess Beatrice, 32, and Princess Eugenie, 31, recently told People magazine that she battled an 'extraordinary fear of getting it wrong' before accepting that trying to be perfect is 'no longer necessary'.
