Thousands of Australians will be given food and entertainment vouchers in a bid to support local businesses struggling to stay open during the pandemic. Australians will start getting vaccinated against Covid-19 in mid-February, Scott Morrison said on Thursday. The prime minister expects regulators to approve Pfizer's vaccine, which has already been rolled out around the world, before the end of January.  Regulators are on track to approve AstraZeneca's vaccine shortly afterwards, meaning the nation will have two different jabs available. A manager of some of Australia's most popular city beaches warns that he is seeing more sharks in the water than ever in his 35 years on the water.  John Snook, who looks after beaches like Scarborough and Trigg in Perth, said sightings of sharks close to the shoreline are increasingly common. 'It's highly unusual, something I've never seen before in my 30-odd years down here at the beach,' Mr Snook, the City of Stirling beach coordinator, told Nine News.   Mr Snook said there were more than 20 sharks sighted on Monday, and even more being spotted throughout the week. A section of the Macquarie Park Village complex in the city's north has laminated Covid contact tracing notices at the entrance to some units. Those entering each apartment are asked to use a Service New South Wales government app 'to check in before entering' like customers are required to now at restaurants, cafes, clubs, hairdressers and cinemas. Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao, who is married to Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell, resigned Thursday, becoming the highest-ranking administration official to resign after President Donald Trump incited a mob of supporters who broke into the U.S. Capitol.   Chao made her announcement in an email to colleagues that was obtained by The Washington Post. She later posted her message to Twitter, in a pinned tweet. 'Our country experienced a traumatic and entirely avoidable event as supporters of the President stormed the Capitol building following a rally he addressed. As I'm sure is the case with many of you, it has deeply troubled me in a way that I simply cannot set aside,' she said.
