An Ohio teen has drowned after falling from an inflatable obstacle at a lakeside waterpark and not being found under the water for 30 minutes.  Mykiara Jones, 14, was bouncing on an inflatable attraction at the Land of Illusions Amusement Park at 8762 Thomas Road in Madison Township when she somehow went underwater at around 5pm on Tuesday evening. Butler County Sheriff's Deputies were dispatched to the waterpark at 5:10pm while the amusement park's staff frantically searched for the Dayton girl. Mykiara, who was not wearing a life vest, was found and pulled from the water by a lifeguard around 5:30pm while  Madison Township EMS began lifesaving measures. She was taken by helicopter to Dayton Children's Hospital where she later died, officials said. A formal cause of death has not yet been determined, the Montgomery County Coroner's Office told WLWT, but her school described the incident as a 'possible drowning'. Butler County Sheriff Richard K. Race relations in the US between black and white adults are at the lowest point in more than two decades and black Americans are 20% less optimistic about future racial harmony, poll finds

For the second consecutive year, race relations between black and white in the US are at their lowest point in more than two decades, and there's a 20-point gap in how white and black Americans view the future.  A Gallup poll published on Wednesday found 42percent of Americans say relations between the two racial groups are 'very' or 'somewhat' good as opposed to 57percent say they are 'somewhat' or 'very' bad. Last year, the same poll found black-white relations for 44percent positive in the aftermath of George Floyd's murder and the subsequent nationwide protests and calls for racial justice. And only 40percent of black adults are optimistic there will be racial harmony, as opposed to 60percent of white adults, according to the poll by Gallup, which is a Washington DC-based analytics and advisory company.   'This is the largest gap recorded in Gallup's three-decade trend, and it is particularly striking given that it comes on the heels

President Biden spoke passionately about his son Hunter's recovery from drug addiction on Wednesday evening as he demanded more federal resources for addicts and for mandatory rehab to replace incarceration. Amid questions about COVID-19 and the economy, the moment brought one of the most animated responses from the president.  'I am so damn proud of my son,' he told CNN host Don Lemon on stage at Mount St. Joseph University in Cincinnati, Ohio.  'My son just wrote a book about how he overcame being addicted and he did it and he's doing it and he's in good shape, thank God.' he said. Queensland closes its border with all of New South Wales as the state battles a growing Covid cluster

Queensland has shut its border to New South Wales as the Sydney cluster continues to grow rapidly. Border restrictions had previously only applied to people from Greater Sydney and specific NSW hotspots, but the Queensland government has now locked out the entire state.  Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk announced the decision on Thursday morning on Twitter, as she is currently in Tokyo sealing Brisbane hosting the 2032 Olympic Games. The border closures will come into place from 1am on Friday morning.  NSW recorded a new high of 124 new cases of Covid-19 on Thursday, taking the state's outbreak - which began with an air crew driver testing positive on June 16 - to 1,652 infections.  Queensland Deputy Premier Steven Miles confirmed Queensland is closing its borders to New South Wales to prevent the spread of the Delta variant 'In order to ease the restrictions as outlined we will close the border to the rest of New South Wales,' Miles said  Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk annou

Biden warns kids will have to wear masks in school, says parents need to be 'honest' about whether their children are vaccinated and ducks questions on new lockdowns at CNN town hall with Don Lemon

President Joe Biden said children under 12 and all unvaccinated students will have to wear masks in school when the Centers for Disease Control issues new guidance as he urged people to get vaccinated on Wednesday evening during a CNN town hall. He said tackling misinformation online was one of his top priorities and said he welcomed the way vaccine skeptics on Fox News had made a U-turn in recent days.  The event, hosted by Don Lemon, was held in a part of Cincinnati that voted heavily for former President Trump, giving Biden a chance to reach across the country's divisions and speak directly to voters. His first questioner, a member of a school board, asked for his message to parents worried about protecting children too young for vaccines. He said he was optimistic that children under 12 would be approved for vaccination in the coming months before unveiling future guidelines. 'The CDC is going to say that what we should do is, everyone under the age of 12 should probably be

Surfside condo site is completely cleared a month after collapse which killed 97 people - as judge says victims and families will receive at least $150M compensation

The site of the deadly Surfside condo collapse has been almost completely cleared, less than a month after the disaster which killed at least 97 people. Photos from the site shared Tuesday show how the lot has changed in the 27 days since the deadly disaster on June 24. The towering pile of concrete rubble, mangled rebar and debris has now been removed, with just a few walls and support beams remaining jutting from the ground. More than 26 million pounds of debris have been removed, Miami-Dade Mayor Daniella Levine-Cava reported, as the recovery effort continues at a debris collection area offsite, and medical examiners continue their work sifting through the rubble.  The pictures came on the same day that a judge said that victims and their families will get a minimum total of $150million compensation. Anastasia Gromova, 24, and Linda March were named on Wednesday night as the latest identified victims of the tragedy. Gromova had just been accepted to a program teaching English to st
