Daisy Edgar-Jones cuts a stylish figure in a stunning black midi dress as she steps out in the midst of the UK heatwave

She rocketed to fame after starring in BBC drama series Normal People.

And Daisy Edgar-Jones took a break from her current projects, as she was spotted keeping her cool during the heatwave on Tuesday.

Cutting a casual but stylish figure, the actress, 23, made the most of the North London sunshine in a square-neck black midi dress and gorgeous sunglasses to coordinate.

Sporting a brown, fringed cross-body bag, the Islington-born star teamed the outfit with a comfortable pair of black sandals.

Ensuring her brunette tresses were not in her face, Daisy styled most of them back into a loose bun. 

Daisy opted for minimal accessories, most notably a dainty necklace.

Last month, her Normal People co-star Paul Mescal scooped up the Best Actor gong for his performance as Connell in the hit show at the BAFTA TV Awards.

The actor, 25, was stunned as he took to the stage to collect his award, telling the small audience: 'I want to dedicate this to Daisy.' 

Daisy Edgar-Jones - who starred as Marianne in the steamy series and was watching the ceremony live from a New Orleans hotel room - became emotional during his speech and wiped away tears.

As Paul left the stage after making a heart-felt speech, BAFTA host Richard Ayoade joked: 'What an absolute b**tard.'

Despite losing out on the Best Actress award to I May Destroy You's Michaela Coel, Daisy thanked BAFTA in a lengthy caption shared on her Instagram.

Sharing a series of photos of herself riding a bike in a beautiful patterned green suit, the actress also congratulated Paul, saying: 'I am ridiculously proud of my lovely friend Paul Mescal for his deserved win.

'I am ridiculously proud of our Normal People family, our amazing director Lenny Abrahamson, all the cast and crew and my lovely friend Paul Mescal for his deserved win, as you can see I was rather overcome with pride.

'This is the longest overdue in person celebration ever but some day soon we shall drink and dance and laugh about how crazy the last two years have been and how lucky we are to know each other. Now here are some pics of me on a bike in New Orleans just cos.'

Daisy stars in the upcoming American drama film, Where the Crawdads Sing, which based on the best-selling 2018 novel of the same name by Delia Owens.  

In the film, Daisy's oddball character comes under suspicion of a shocking murder in a quiet North Carolina town in 1969.

The star is appearing alongside British actor Harris Dickinson and American actor Taylor John Smith. 

It is set for release on June 24, 2022.
