Kieran only has a season left to run on his deal with Atletico, not two as has been previously suggested.
There are options to extend his contract at The Wanda Metropolitano, but as it stands his deal expires at the end of the forthcoming season.
Manchester United saw their attempts to sign Kieran rebuffed by Atletico earlier this summer - but the Old Trafford club remain interested in landing the defender ahead of the new campaign.

His impressive displays for England during the Euros have also attracted interest from at least two Premier League clubs, but the prospect of joining United is an obvious attraction for Kieran, who was born in neighbouring Bury.

But while he impressed in Spain, the right back is setting his sights on a return to the English game.
It appears, however, that Atletico will not let him leave without a fight and value Kieran at around the £30million mark.
