Doesn't having lenders write off $237 million in debts prove I'm a smart guy?' Donald Trump defends walking away from massive debts on faltering Chicago Trump tower amid new revelations from his tax returns

President Donald Trump brushed off another damaging report from the New York Times based on his still unreleased tax returns Wednesday, this time defending walking away from $237 million in loans on a faltering project. The president pushed back after the paper sought to untangle the complex tail of huge loans, defaults, and lawsuits that resulted in Trump failing to pay millions he borrowed for his Trump Tower Chicago project. The paper revealed that he was able to have $237 million in loans written off since 2010, almost all of it debt on his Trump Tower Chicago project. He prevented tax liability for the massive debt relief, that must be counted as income, by taking write-offs on other businesses with big losses.  'As a developer long ago, and continuing to this day, the politicians ran Chicago into the ground,' Trump wrote. 'I was able to make an appropriately great deal with the numerous lenders on a large and very beautiful tower. Doesn’t that make me a smart guy rath

Tier 1+ DOESN'T exist, government bosses say as Bristol sparks confusion by imposing tougher measures to 'stem the spread' of Covid-19

Ministers today distanced themselves from Bristol's decision to introduce 'Tier 1+' measures. Department of Health bosses insisted there are only three local Covid alert levels — and that they are not considering introducing a 'plus' system. But they accepted local leaders have the power to bring in extra measures for their area, saying: 'We welcome local efforts to break chains of transmission.' Bristol sparked confusion today by implementing a series of measures it described as 'Tier 1+' to 'stem the spread' of coronavirus.   The move — the first of its kind — will see eight Covid-19 marshals on the street to ensure compliance with national measures.  All of Nottinghamshire will move into Tier Three restrictions on Friday, it has been confirmed, after a crisis meeting between ministers and local leaders. Bristol is also moving into a Tier Plus One, while West Yorkshire negotiates over Tier Three  BRISTOL: The city has imposed its own Tier

The newborn, who was called Jackson, was attacked by the two-year-old dog at his mother's home in the Hamilton suburb of Enderley on New Zealand's North Island on Sunday night. A neighbour said the baby - who was rushed to Waikato Hospital but died that night after suffering critical injuries - was grabbed while his mother was using the toilet. The infant's grandparents Vera and Viktor Zabiyaka said they weren't even aware of his birth until the moment they were called to the hospital. Anton Zabiyaka (pictured with the killer dog left) whose baby son died after being mauled by a pet Rottweiller on Sunday night, didn't know he was going to be a Dad when he was suspected of taking his own life in April.
