An urgent recall of protein balls sold across Australia has been issued amid fears the health food contains plastic.
Food Standards Australia issued the recall for Bounce Protein Ball Cashew Caramel 40g on Wednesday afternoon.
The protein balls are sold at Coles, Woolworths and independent food retailers including IGA, 7-Eleven, Caltex, BP, EG Fuels and United Fuel.

The product has also been available for sale at On the Run in South Australia and as well as in pharmacies and from online retail outlets in Australia.
The recall has been issued 'due to the potential presence of foreign matter'.
Health food lovers have been warned that 'food products containing plastic may cause injury / illness if consumed'.
The impacted protein balls are batch M2310 and have a best before date of 21/07/21.
Shoppers who bought the impacted Bounce protein ball have been advised not to eat the product.
Consumers can return the product to the place of purchase for a full refund.
