Horrifying moment TV presenter, 36, who has previously received death threats for reporting on corruption, is assassinated during a drive-by-shooting in Ecuador

A television host, who had denounced corruption in previous reports, was assassinated during a drive-by-shooting in Ecuador. Efraín Ruales, 36, was on his way home when he was executed in northern Guayaquil after finishing a Wednesday morning gym session with his girlfriend, Alejandra Jaramillo, who had returned to her own residence.   A video leaked on social media shows the driver of the Suzuki Gran Vitara speeding down the street next to Ruales' Ford Explorer before the shooter fired multiple shots.  The suspects then fled as Ruales' SUV continued on down the avenue before it came to a full stop in front of a school that is currently closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. A terminally ill doctor who murdered a pediatrician in Texas has been pictured, as a vigil was held in Austin to celebrate the life of a mother-of-three who 'radiated light, love and joy'. Dr Katherine Lindley Dodson, 43, was shot and killed by Bharat Narumanchi on Tuesday at Children's Medical Group in Austin, Texas. A week before the shooting Narumanchi, who was licensed to practice medicine in Oklahoma, Connecticut, Wisconsin, Florida and California, where he most recently practiced, was turned down for a volunteer role at the clinic. Dodson was not believed to have met him at the time. New Jersey records its first death from UK 'Super COVID' variant after resident with 'no international travel history' succumbs to the virus

New Jersey has recorded its first death from the highly-contagious U.K. variant of COVID-19.  The unidentified resident succumbed to the virus on Wednesday, State Health Commissioner Judith Persichilli confirmed at a press conference.  The victim had 'significant underlying health conditions' but had no international travel history. Their age was not released.  The UK variant of the coronavirus, known as B 1.1.7 and dubbed 'Super-COVID', is feared to be up to 70 percent more transmissible than the general coronavirus strain.  On Wednesday, six new cases of the Super-COVID were confirmed in New Jersey, with the ages of those testing positive ranging from 10 to 65. Only one has recently traveled overseas. It was the home referred to as a 'paradise' by its inhabitants, a villa surrounded by a walled garden and high trees. But it was where Nazi Rudolf Hoess lived with his wife and five children when he was the commander of Auschwitz-Birkenau - the concentration camp in which 1.2million Jews were murdered during the Holocaust. The home was on the corner of the camp. The trees and the garden wall deliberately obscured the view of the chimney of the crematoria, where the bodies of men, women and children who had been murdered in gas chamber were burnt to ashes. Now, astonishing photos - taken in 2007 but revealed for the first time - show the inside of the home, near the town of Oswiecim, in Poland, which was occupied by the Nazis during the Second World War.
