'They kept running into the walls and fence': Chaos as two terrified deer rampage through streets of Sydney's inner west

Image
Two deer who were spotted roaming through three Sydney suburbs on Tuesday morning have been captured by police. The two animals were seen prowling down streets across Leichhardt, Balmain and Annandale in the city's inner-west. CCTV footage taken in Coleridge Street in Leichhardt showed the two deer walking one behind another in front of a unit block. One resident said she saw the animals while driving to the gym at 5.30am, while another reported them entering a residential complex about 7.50am.  New South Wales Police have captured one deer, but as of midday the other is still on the loose. The local whose surveillance camera captured the deer's movements at 6.30am told Daily Mail Australia her husband checked the footage after he was awoken to the noise outside. 'The roads were fairly quiet so some movement coming up on my left-hand side caught my attention,' one woman who was driving to the gym told Guardian Australia. 'At first, I thought it was a dog running a

The family matriarch supporting Sam Burgess through the toughest time of his life: How the 6'2" mother of rugby league's most famous family is leading the fight to defend him - after bombshell allegations about his failed marriage and wild partying ways

With the hood of her grey jumper over her head and sunglasses hiding her face, Julie Burgess did not look like someone you want to mess with as she emerged from crisis talks with embattled son Sam on Saturday night.  Standing at over 190cm tall, the matriarch of rugby league's most famous family has a reputation - much like her four sons - for being a fierce competitor and is unashamedly defensive of her boys. When Sam, 31, and Luke, 33, were out on the town at The Establishment in late 2018 at a farewell BBQ for a South Sydney Rabbitohs teammate, she was reportedly the only one who could drag them home. Storming up to the concierge at the swanky hotel she demanded to know what room they were staying in, and as usual, the former high-school deputy headmaster known as 'Mrs B' got her way. After an hour she managed to drag the boys 'by the ear' into her Hyundai Veloster and back to Sam's family mansion in Maroubra, The Sunday Telegraph reported. While she managed

Texas socialite's famous mansion with America's largest closet and a wine tasting room built to hold 245 bottles sells after being listed for $6.5million

A Texas socialite is giving up her famous three-story closet after a buyer agreed to purchase the $6.5million mansion it's housed in.  Theresa Roemer, a former Miss Texas winner and philanthropist dubbed the 'Ultimate Real Housewife of Houston', drew the envy of women across the country when she shelled out $1million to build her 3,000-square-foot closet.  But now Roemer has agreed to part ways with the stunning space after a new owner snapped it up last month. Nancy Almodovar with Nan & Company Properties/Christie's International Real Estate, who represented the sale of the property in Houston's upscale suburb of The Woodlands, confirmed that it was finally off the market, years after it was first listed in 2014.  Aldomovar did not disclose the identity of the buyer or what the 17,350-square-foot house ended up selling for. It's final listing price was $6.499 million - a 50 percent discount on the original $12.9million asking price.   While the closet is un

EXCLUSIVE: Fox News' Jesse Watters is expecting a baby boy - his first child with his ex-producer bride, 28, who he had affair with while married to first wife (and mother of his two daughters)

Fox News star Jesse Watters is expecting a baby boy with his new wife Emma DiGiovine, just 10 months after tying the knot, sources close to the couple exclusively told DailyMail.com.  This will be Watters' third child, sharing twin daughters with ex wife Noelle, who filed for divorce in October 2018.  The 42-year-old had admitted to cheating on Noelle with Emma, 28, who worked as an associate producer on his show Watters' World. Watters fessed up to his bosses at Fox about the affair shortly after Noelle filed for divorce.  Emma was transferred to work for The Ingraham Angle, but she and Watters continued to date and married in a star-studded ceremony in December 2019.  Watters confirmed DailyMail.com's scoop while co-hosting The Five on Monday evening, telling his colleagues the happy news and revealed the baby's gender by having them cut into a cupcake that had blue filling.  Soon after, Emma took to social media to celebrate too, revealing they are expecting their ba

Why are cancer patients still being left in limbo? It's become the untold scandal of the Covid crisis — how as many as 36,000 lives could be lost because of delays in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer

Three days into lockdown, having learned that he had a growth in his prostate, Chris Durcan waited anxiously for a letter from the hospital telling him what the next steps would be. 'An MRI scan on March 23 — the day lockdown was announced — had shown the growth measured 2cm,' says Chris, 61, a technical support officer with the National Crime Agency, who lives in Birmingham with his wife Alison, 56, a secretary. 'I was extremely worried as I have a family history of prostate cancer — my younger brother, Tom, had his prostate removed a few years ago aged just 49 because he had an aggressive type of the disease. And my father, grandfather and uncle all had prostate cancer.' When the letter arrived in April, Chris was devastated to read that the growth was 'suggestive of a high-grade tumour' and he needed a biopsy to confirm the cancer and suitable treatment. 'This was all bad news — but what was worse was it said I would have to wait four months for the proce

IRS 'launches criminal investigation into NRA CEO Wayne LaPierre over possible tax fraud related to his personal finances'

Image
The Internal Revenue Service is said to have launched a criminal investigation into  National Rifle Association CEO Wayne LaPierre for possible tax fraud related to his personal finances.  Filings show LaPierre, 70, who has been in charge of the NRA's day-to-day operations since 1991, was paid $2.2 million by the non-profit group in 2018. He made a reported total of $11.2 million between 2014 and 2018, The Wall Street Journal reports. In August New York state's attorney general sued to dissolve the NRA, alleging senior leaders of the non-profit group diverted millions of dollars for personal use and to buy the silence and loyalty of former employees. In that lawsuit it was argued that not including certain personal benefits in his W-2 annual-compensation forms 'permitted him to file false personal tax returns with the IRS'.  The New York lawsuit made only civil claims, but James had said the investigation was ongoing and any criminal activity discovered would be referre

Blow to Covid-19 treatment hopes as major study reveals HIV combination drug lopinavir-ritonavir does NOT benefit hospitalised patients

Image
The HIV drug combination of lopinavir and ritonavir does not treat Covid-19, a major study has concluded.  One of many experimental treatments being trialled around the world, scientists had hoped the antiviral therapy would be able to stop the coronavirus reproducing in the body, like it does for HIV. But one of the biggest trials of promising Covid-19 drugs has now found it does not reduce patients' risk of needing intensive care or dying, nor speed up their recovery. A study led by Oxford University scientists insisted lopinavir-ritonavir, sold under the brand name Kaletra, is 'not an effective treatment for patients admitted to hospital with Covid-19'.  The researchers behind the trial had actually pulled the drug out of the programme and stopped giving it to people in June because they realised it wasn't working. Now, results published in the medical journal The Lancet show 'strong evidence' that the treatment didn't improve the condition of the 1,600 i
