Texas socialite's famous mansion with America's largest closet and a wine tasting room built to hold 245 bottles sells after being listed for $6.5million
A Texas socialite is giving up her famous three-story closet after a buyer agreed to purchase the $6.5million mansion it's housed in.
Theresa Roemer, a former Miss Texas winner and philanthropist dubbed the 'Ultimate Real Housewife of Houston', drew the envy of women across the country when she shelled out $1million to build her 3,000-square-foot closet.
But now Roemer has agreed to part ways with the stunning space after a new owner snapped it up last month.
Nancy Almodovar with Nan & Company Properties/Christie's International Real Estate, who represented the sale of the property in Houston's upscale suburb of The Woodlands, confirmed that it was finally off the market, years after it was first listed in 2014.
Aldomovar did not disclose the identity of the buyer or what the 17,350-square-foot house ended up selling for. It's final listing price was $6.499 million - a 50 percent discount on the original $12.9million asking price.
While the closet is undoubtedly the crown jewel of the home, there are plenty more over-the-top features for the new owner to enjoy - including a wine tasting room built to hold 245 bottles and a $60,000 custom Egyptian crystal chandelier hanging in the entryway.

An unidentified buyer snapped up Roemer's stunning 17,350-square-foot mansion in The Woodlands last month. It's unclear how much they agreed to pay, but the home's final listing price was $6.499million

The six-bedroom mansion is enveloped in 25-foot floor-to-ceiling windows and boasts a bevy of luxurious amenities, including a catering kitchen, media room, gym, butler's pantry and elevator.
It sits on two acres of beautifully manicured land in the Carlton Woods community in The Woodlands, overlooking the Bear Branch Reserve and Nicklaus Golf Course.
Roemer, 57, and her husband Lamar, a former tennis pro who made a fortune in the oil industry, shared the home with their five children who have since moved out - perhaps prompting the couple to downsize.

Roemer has never been shy about her home, hosting numerous charity events there and welcoming the media in for tours on several occasions over the years.
The first glimpse inside the closet came in a Good Morning America segment in July 2014 - after which a robber broke into Roemer's house when she and her husband were at dinner and stole approximately $1million-worth of items.
'They took everything. They took all my jewelry, all my watch collections, my husband's watch collections, my Birkin collection,' Roemer said in an interview after the robbery.
'They literally walked out with between $800,000 and a million dollars' worth of stuff.'
Some of the most expensive items were taken including 10 Rolex watches, up to a dozen Chanel watches, Cartier watches, and other pricey baubles and accessories.

But Roemer didn't let the robbery stop her from sharing her lifestyle with the world. Texas Monthly toured the mansion in 2015, describing it as 'absurdity' in a feature that branded Roemer 'The Ultimate Real Housewife of Texas'.
The following year Roemer invited rapper Gucci Mane to film his Nonchalant music video at her estate.

The space itself is just as impressive as the contents - featuring a floating staircase, a champagne bar and a decked-out hair and makeup studio.
It's unclear where Roemer and her husband are planning to settle down next - but chances are it will have a closet that's equally covetable.
