Horrified family of dementia patient 'Mrs B' demand answers after the 83-year-old was left with serious injuries from a mysterious 'fall' at hospital - and they only found out when they went to pick her up

An 83-year-old dementia patient has been left with horrific injuries after a stint in a public hospital. 

The grandmother, known only as 'Mrs B', had been at Sydney's Hornsby Hospital for an assessment last week. 

Her family were left horrified when they went to pick her up last Thursday and found her with large purple bruises over her face and neck.

The woman, who is known only as 'Mrs B', had been treated at Sydney's Hornsby Hospital

The vulnerable woman had two black eyes and a large bruise stretching from the front of her neck to the back of her head.

She also had skin peeling off of her forearm. 

The family claimed they were not told how the woman sustained the injuries and contacted long-time family friend 2GB radio host Ray Hadley for help. 

Hadley then reached out to Health Minister Brad Hazzard for answers.

Speaking on his show on Tuesday morning, Hadley said the family were told Mrs B suffered two falls which caused the injuries.

'Their explanation to the family is just incomprehensible and disgusting,' he said.

'I'm not suggesting staff at the hospital have mistreated her, but someone has inside that hospital and someone needs to be held to account.'
