FBI agents seize AR-15s, handguns, swords, military-style knives, thousands of rounds of ammunition and even a stun gun walking stick from the homes and vehicles of Capitol rioters
FBI agents and other law enforcement officers have seized numerous weapons from dozens of rioters who were taken into custody for storming the Capitol building last week.
Some of the weapons include Molotov cocktails, rounds of ammunition, swords, military-style knives, AR-15s, handguns and crossbows.
The Justice Department said it had brought at least 70 cases in connection with the riot at the Capitol, in which five people died as supporters of President Donald Trump scaled walls and ransacked offices.
Many of those arrested were captured on video and in photos, with some bragging about their actions.
Acting US Attorney for the District of Columbia Michael Sherwin said on Tuesday that while many people in custody were arrested on less serious charges, such as unlawful entry, some offenders may face steeper charges.
Among the possible charges some could face include seditious conspiracy or felony murder in connection with the death of Capitol Police officer, Brian Sicknick.
The FBI agents confiscated the following weapons and ammunition from some of the rioters:
Cleveland Grover Meredith Jr
Cleveland Grover Meredith Jr brought an arsenal of weapons including a Stars and Stripes handgun, 2,500 rounds of ammunition and 320 rounds of armor-piercing 5.56 rounds to DC, authorities said.
Investigators said Meredith had texted his friends that he wanted to shoot or run over House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
In one text, Meredith allegedly wrote that he was thinking of 'putting a bullet in Pelosi' noggin on Live TV'.

The FBI said Meredith arrived at Washington DC after the protests had already begun but as soon as he arrived, he attacked an unidentified man.
They claimed he got out his car, head-butted the man, knocked him down and assaulted him on the ground before fleeing in his vehicle.
The US Attorney's Office are arguing against Meredith being released on bail after his arrest last week.
Meredith was charged last Thursday with making interstate threats to Pelosi, the Justice Department said in a statement.
He was also charged with possessing an unregistered firearm and ammunition.
Lonnie Coffman
Lonnie Coffman, 70, was arrested after authorities say they found guns and 11 Molotov cocktail explosive devices made out of Mason jars, golf tees and cloth rags in his pickup truck.
According to CNN, Coffman, 70, told police he had mason jars filled with 'melted Styrofoam and gasoline'.
If that combination would've exploded, federal investigators believe it would have had the effect of napalm because it 'causes the flammable liquid to better stick to objects that it hits upon detonation'.

Three magazines were also discovered in Coffman's vehicle, authorities said

Coffman has been charged with possession of an unregistered firearm, carrying a pistol without a license, carrying a rifle or shotgun outside of a home or place of business and possession of a large ammunition feeding device
In addition, authorities found rags and lighters, which combined with the explosive-filled mason jars 'in close proximity to one another constitute a combination of parts' that could be used as a 'destructive device,' court documents said.

Coffman was found about a block away from where his truck was parked and carrying a 9mm handgun and a .22-caliber handgun in each of his front pockets, police said.
None of the weapons he possessed were registered to him.
In addition to the weapons, authorities said Coffman had a 'good guys' and 'bad guys' list on the day of the insurrection.
The name of Rep Andre Carson, a Democrat, was allegedly scribbled on the 'bad guy' list. The list noted that Carson 'is one of two' Muslims in the House of Representatives. Also on the list was a judge.
The Justice Department said Coffman was charged with possession of an unregistered firearm, carrying a pistol without a license, carrying a rifle or shotgun outside of a home or place of business, possession of a large ammunition feeding device and unlawful possession of ammunition.
Richard Barnett
Richard Barnett, 60, who has proudly referred to himself as a white nationalist on social media, turned himself into police on Friday after a photo of him at Pelosi's desk went viral.
Barnett, who was carrying a Zap stun gun walking stick when he was pictured in Pelosi's office, appeared before a federal judge via video conference on Tuesday.
Barnett faces charges including knowingly entering or remaining in a restricted building or restricted grounds without lawful authority while carrying a dangerous weapon, violent entry and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds and theft of public property.
He's being held at the Washington County Detention Center in Fayetteville, Arkansas, authorities said.

Eduard Florea
Eduard Florea, 40, was arrested on Tuesday in Queens, New York. He has been accused of plotting a violent attack on the Capitol last week.
Authorities claimed that he threatened to kill newly-elected Democratic Senator Raphael Warnock and had boasted about traveling to DC with a caravan of 'armed patriots' on social media.
Florea was taken into custody on Tuesday after the FBI's Joint Terrorism Task Force descended on his home on Elliot Avenue and 76th Street in Middle Village, Queens.
He was seen surrendering to authorities in the middle of the residential street during the afternoon raid before being placed in an armored vehicle.

Florea, who is reported to have ties to white supremacist group the Proud Boys, appeared in Brooklyn Federal Court on Wednesday where he is facing felony weapons charges.
Prosecutors said federal law enforcement officers seized 1,000 hollow point rounds of ammunition during the raid as well as 75 military-style knives, two hatchets, and two swords, according to a criminal complaint.
While Florea did not ultimately travel to the Capitol, prosecutors said he made verbal threats on the conservative social media platform Parler to carry out violence.
Federal prosecutors said they came across Florea's Parler account - where he went by username 'LoneWolfWar' - that contained threatening statements regarding acts of violence and the use of firearms on and around January 6, the day of the violent siege.
Florea, a father of two, has been charged as a convicted felon in possession of ammunition.
The FBI is still scouring more than 100,000 images and videos as the agency tries to track down many more suspects.
