Driver is charged after allegedly slamming into four men who pulled into the breakdown bay of a major motorway to change a flat tyre

Police have charged a driver after four men who pulled over to change a flat tyre on a major motorway were injured when they were struck by a car in Sydney's west overnight.

Emergency services were called to the M7 Motorway, south of Eastern Road at Rooty Hill, at about 10pm on Friday evening after a multi-vehicle crash in the breakdown bay was reported.

Police claim a Toyota Hilux towing a boat trailer and a Volkswagen Golf were stopped in the breakdown bay while four men - aged 44, 49 and two aged 39 - were changing a flat tyre on the boat trailer.

It's alleged a Toyota Camry travelling south on the motorway struck the stationary Volkswagen, causing it to push the boat forward and injure the four men nearby.
