John Legend Performs Emotional 'Never Break' During Night Two of the Army National Convention

John Legend attracted his soulful sounds to night among those 2020 Democratic National Convention on Tuesday. The EGOT winner supported Democratic nominee Joe Biden and took part in the virtual event. Introduced by Tracee Ellis Ross, Legend kicked his performance by singing the powerful song "Never Break" from his latest album, Bigger Love.

Sitting at the piano, wearing a white suit with a black blouse, the singer has been accompanied by a handful of backup singers to buckle the psychological song.

"We shall never violate / We will never violate / Built on a base / Strong enough to stay / We shall never break," Legend crooned. "As the water rises / And the mountains shake / Our love will stay."

Following the performance, Legend tweeted, "Thanks to the @DemConvention for requesting me to shut a potent night with my brand new song #NeverBreak. The song is about love, hope and resilience, and that I think we could all use some of that right now."

The DNC launched Monday with all the then-presumptive Democratic nominee for president telling people they "have to keep pushing" from the struggle for racial equality. Michelle Obama also urged Americans to "vote for Joe Biden like our lives depend on it."

"I know Joe. He's a profoundly decent man, guided by religion," Obama shared throughout her powerful address. "He was an excellent vice president. He understands what it takes to rescue a market, beat a pandemic back and direct our country."

She also praised Biden as a man who "awakens" and promised that the American people he will "tell the truth" and "hope science" throughout his presidency, if elected. Here's how to tune into the virtual conference.
