Terrifying moment racing trucks crash sending one flying over the track barrier during the first lap of race

Dramatic footage shows the moment two trucks collide during the first lap of a race, sending one vehicle flying straight through the crash barriers.

The terrifying incident took place at Thruxton Race Circuit in Hampshire during the BTRA British Trucks Race on October 31.

Miraculously both drivers were not seriously hurt and have returned home with bruising after being taken to hospital for checks, the British Automobile Racing Club confirmed.

The video was taken by spectator Luke Holder from Weston-super-Mare, Somerset, who watching from a safe distance as both drivers escaped unharmed.

As the clip begins, the trucks are seen racing around a difficult bend.

In the background, a driver seems to have lost control of his vehicle and goes barreling over the grass next to the track.

It continues to speed towards the other trucks before eventually ploughing into a vehicle on the inside of the bend.

The trucks hurtle off the track, with one smashing into the fencing sending debris flying.

The other truck also hits the barrier and is sent soaring through the air, demolishing the fence in the process.
