'Sounds just like Karl Marx': Kamala Harris is blasted for peddling 'communist propaganda' after tweeting video preaching importance of equity
Kamala Harris has been blasted a 'Marxist' on social media and accused of peddling 'Communist propaganda' after she posted a video to Twitter preaching the differences between equality and equity.
The animated video, published on Sunday, features a black man and a white man who are staring up at a mountain they were seeking to climb.
The two men are both given the same length rope, however the white man is seen standing next to the end of his rope, while the black man is stood at the bottom of a cliff with the rope out of his reach.
Harris, who narrates the video, is heard saying at the beginning that, ‘there’s a big difference between equality and equity.’
‘Equality suggests, “Oh, everyone should get the same amount”’, she continues. ‘The problem with that not everybody’s starting out from the same place. So if we’re all getting the same amount but you started out back there and I started out over here, we could get the same amount, but you’re still going to be that far back behind me.’
Kamala Harris has been blasted as a ‘communist' and a ‘Marxist’ on social media after she posted a video to Twitter preaching about the differences between equality and equity.
Almost immediately, countless critics began lambasting Harris, accusing her of preaching the Communist principle known as equality of outcome
The narration comes as the white man is seen ascending the mountain while the black man watches from the ground below.
As Harris continues in her monologue, the ground in the video begins to rise up, allowing the black man the opportunity to grab the rope and for both men to reach the summit of the mountain.
‘It’s about giving people the resources and support they need so that everyone can be on equal footing, and then compete on equal footing. Equitable treatment means we all end up at the same place,’ Harris says.
Almost immediately, countless critics began lambasting Harris, accusing her of preaching the Communist principle known as equality of outcome. The principle describes a state in which people have approximately the same material wealth and income, or in which the general economic conditions of their lives are alike.
Among the most notable detractors was House Republican Conference Committee Chair Liz Cheney, who wrote in response: ‘Sounds just like Karl Marx. A century of history has shown where that path leads. We all embrace equal opportunity, but government-enforced equality of outcomes is Marxism.’
Mark Wolking, the deputy director of the Trump 2020 campaign called Harris a ‘full blown Marxist’.
Texas Congressman and former Navy SEAL Dan Crenshaw summarized the video as a ‘false promise of the left’.
‘The false promise of the left, in 1 minute. Start out with a well-intentioned point on equality of opportunity, only to end it with the true Marxist intent: equity in outcomes. They leave out the part where equity must be enforced with unequal -and tyrannical- treatment,’ he wrote.
Political podcast host Robby Starbuck said, ‘I’ll save you all time, she’s a communist’.
‘They always make it look and sound pretty, fair, unthreatening and utopian but in reality it’s always ugly, unfair, full of threats and dystopian,’ Starbuck said. ‘Venezuelans & Cubans have seen this movie before and are warning you it doesn’t end well.’
California Congressional candidate Errol Webber, meanwhile, accused Harris of taking her ‘mask off’ and revealing herself to be a ‘full-fledged Communist.’
‘She said it’s not about equality of opportunity but equality of outcome. Dangerous talk,’ he wrote.
Founder of Turning Point USA, Charlie Kirk, accused Harris, ‘who is really the one running for president’, of being a Marxist.
‘Her latest video to “win” voters over is a desperate attempt to destroy western civilization. Vote Trump!,’ he said.
Trump voters reacted in a similar fashion. ‘Yes, it’s called socialism. Thanks for your honestly Kamala. I’ll take Trump 2020,’ one person responded.
Presidential nominee Joe Biden has also sought to distance himself from the far-left wing of the Democratic Party, particularly after his victory over Senator Bernie Sanders in the final round of the primary
Harris has not yet responded to the criticism on Twitter, however her campaign has sought to distance itself from socialist ideology.
Presidential nominee Joe Biden has also sought to distance himself from the far-left wing of the Democratic Party, particularly after his victory over socialist Senator Bernie Sanders in the final round of the Democratic primary.
Speaking to NBC News at a town hall in Miami last week, the former Vice President answered a question regarding concerns over labels of communism and socialism among Democrats with an inquiry of his own.
‘Do I look like a socialist?’ Biden asked. ‘I’m the guy that ran against the socialist, remember? I got in trouble through the whole campaign, 20-some candidates — “Joe Biden was too centrist, too moderate, too straightforward.” That was Joe Biden.’
President Trump also recently accused Harris of harbouring Marxist ideals, calling her ‘monster’ and a ‘communist’ in an interview with Fox Business last month.
‘She's a communist. We're going to have a communist as ? She's going to be , in my opinion, within a month. Look, I sit next to Joe and I looked at Joe. Joe's not lasting two months as president,’ he said.
