Yet Niall Horan appeared to have made a speedy recovery from his painful injury as he enjoyed an energetic cycle in London on Friday.

The One Direction star, 27, appeared in good spirits as he explored the British capital on his £7,499 BMC Switzerland AG road bike, which prices ranging from £3,799 to £9,999 for different models.

Niall displayed his toned physique in black, red and white patterned Lycra which included shorts and a zip-up top.

The star made sure he stayed safe on the roads by wearing a black bike helmet, he finished his look with sunglasses.

Niall appeared in good spirits as he listened to music on his AirPods and he also shared an update of himself on the bike to Instagram.

It comes after the star revealed in August that he would have to wear a medical boot for weeks after snapping the ligaments in his foot during a boozy night out.

The One Direction star told fans he was now struggling to walk following the mishap which he blamed on alcohol as well as a hidden kerb.

He took to Instagram with pictures of his foot in the brace before sharing close up snaps of the unsettling green and black bruising around his ankle.

The Irishman revealed a rather confusing set of events in a Live video as he said: 'I was running drunk and in these new streets, you can drive down them and they're also sometimes pedestrianised, they look like they're made to be pedestrianised. 

'They are not like a real tarmacked street, so the kerb looks the same as the actual driveable road and there was a little kerb.'

He later added: 'I was about six pints deep. I was chasing my cousin, missed the kerb and went over my ankle.

'I snapped all the ligaments on the outside of my foot. I've got such ugly feet or I'd show the world how bruised it is.'

Niall was fortunate that he had time to heal after the singer's tours were delayed amid the coronavirus pandemic.        

The bizarre mishap came after MailOnline revealed over the summer that the 1D star has been dating Birmingham-born Amelia, 23, for around two months after they grew close during lockdown. 

A source exclusively told MailOnline: 'Niall is very serious about Amelia, lockdown has definitely intensified his feelings for her.'  

Niall's romance with designer show-buyer Amelia is his first serious relationship since his split from actress and singer Hailee Steinfeld, 23, after the former couple went separate ways in 2018. 

A source continued: 'Niall has been seeing Amelia for the last two months.

In July, Niall was pictured smiling in a black and white photo with Amelia as the two sipped wine at his London apartment.
