Is this Charlie's new angel? Renowned brain surgeon Dr Teo, 62, has 'grown close' to a glamorous ex-patient and fitness fanatic, 46 - after splitting with the mother of his four children after 30 years

Renowned brain surgeon Charlie Teo has 'grown close' to a former patient and international model, after splitting with his wife of 30 years, Genevieve.

Teo, who announced in February that he and the mother of his four children had separated, has spent an increasing amount of time with Wollongong glamour Traci Griffiths, 46.

Ms Griffiths is a former model and pet apparel designer who he reportedly treated back in 2011.

She has a clear passion for fitness and animal welfare, as evidenced by her social media pages.

Ms Griffiths has shared video of her and a shirtless Dr Teo working out and attending a wildlife retreat together.

Dr Teo exclusively confirmed to Daily Mail Australia earlier this year that his relationship with Genevieve had come to an end, but stressed the pair remain 'great friends'.

His ties to Ms Griffiths were first reported by The Sydney Morning Herald on Saturday. Both have been approached for comment.

Dr Teo is best known for operating on patients who other doctors have deemed inoperable.

He was the subject of a series of media storms earlier this year when Nine newspapers published a story where unnamed colleagues made allegations against him of inappropriate conduct.

The allegations included claims Dr Teo had made inappropriate comments and gestures, at work and at home.

At the time, a furious Dr Teo described the article as 'disturbing' and claimed it 'lacked legitimate research, nameless sources and a staggering number of inaccuracies'.

He went on to blast the reporting as 'inaccurate' and 'sensational and biased'.

Separately, criticism was heaped upon the surgeon over patients paying six figure sums to fund their surgeries, with many turning to crowdfunding platforms, such as GoFundMe.

The high private fees were charged as patients went outside the public system, Teo explained.

Dr Teo added he would receive about $8,000 to $15,000 himself from a $120,000 surgery, with the rest shared among the medical team and to pay for costs.

Teo's daughter Nicola Teo, 24, has also been in the headlines.

She is due to stand trial after pleading not guilty to dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm following a road incident with a former Bikies boss.

Police alleged Ms Teo was driving on the wrong side of the road when the crash happened at Lower Macdonald, northwest of Sydney, on September 25 last year.

Former Comancheros boss Jock Ross was airlifted to Westmead Hospital in a critical condition when his motorcycle collided head on with Teo's Toyota Landcruiser.

That case will return to the NSW District Court later this year.
