Jimmy Kimmel posts image of frenemy Matt Damon's dad bod to wish him a happy 50th birthday while continuing their fake feud

Jimmy Kimmel has kept up his long-running faux feud with actor Matt Damon for more than a decade.

But the three-time Emmy winner is putting aside their differences to celebrate a major milestone.

He posted a hilarious photo Thursday to Instagram of his best frenemy in character and in full dad bod, as he wished the two-time Golden Globe winner a happy 50th birthday.

The 52-year-old shared a snap of Damon sporting feathered hair, a mustache and an orange bathing suit in the 2009 movie The Informant!, writing: 'Happy 50th birthday dummy'

It's unclear if Damon has seen the birthday tribute or if he has a comeback prepared, as he's not on Instagram.

His and Kimmel's fake feud began circa 2005, when Kimmel ended an episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live! by joking: 'Our apologies to Matt Damon, we ran out of time.'

Kimmel then began ending his shows with the same line, making a nightly nod to the Bourne Identity star.

Damon later revealed the origin of the running joke in an interview with Parade Magazine in December of 2011.

He revealed: 'The first time I met Jimmy was when I went to do the primetime show. For a year he'd been saying, "My apologies to Matt Damon; we ran out of time."

'So he came backstage, and I asked him what that was about. And he was like, "You want to know what happened? I was doing a particularly lame show; I think my guests were a ventriloquist and a guy in a monkey suit. We were wrapping it up, and there was a smattering of applause in the audience."

'"I was having kind of a low moment, and I just said, "My apologies to Matt Damon; we ran out of time." My producer was right off camera and he doubled over laughing. It was just gallows humor. Nobody else got the joke. But it made us laugh, so we started doing it every night. I have no idea why I said you; it could have been anybody."'

The Ocean's Eleven actor appeared on the talk show for the first time in 2006, when Kimmel introduced him with a supercut of every time he said the one-liner.

But at the end of the segment, there was no time left for the interview, and Damon could be seen yelling 'go f*** yourself' at the host, as the credits rolled.

Damon most recently poked back in the long-running joke, when Kimmel announced in June that he was taking a brief hiatus from the show.

The Martian actor then stepped out of a room behind Kimmel in his home, where he was filming the show remotely.

Sporting a robe and a face mask, he said: 'What am I gonna do? ... I mean, I haven't been on. I've been back here for three months, waiting to get on.'

Kimmel was surprised to learn Damon was living in his spare bedroom, and even more so when he saw his own wife sneaking out of the room in a robe.

He addressed the status of their friendship to People last month, before he hosted the 72nd Primetime Emmy Awards.

The Brooklyn-born comedian joked: 'I don’t have any friends named Matt. I have an enemy named Matt, if that’s what you’re asking, and he’s not invited to be a part of anything I’m involved with. This year we have extra security.'
