She has been compared - by some rather kind observers - to mother-of-six Angelina Jolie.
But 'Octomom' Nadya Suleman wants her critics to know she has it much tougher than the Hollywood actress.
The 37-year-old, whose brood tallies in at 14 following the 2009 birth of her octuplets, says Jolie 'has it easy', according toInTouchmagazine.
Suleman has meanwhile channeled the actress in a photoshoot for the tabloid, thrusting her leg out of a black floor-length gown à la Angelina at the 2012 Oscars and mimicking her pose as Lara Croft in Tomb Raider.
A 2009 cover of Life & Style magazine even positioned the women side-by-side in 2009, with the headline: 'Obsessed with Angelina' emblazoned aross the image.
Plastic surgeon Dr. Anthony Youn then told the tabloid: 'The similarities between Nadya and Angelina are uncanny. Their brows are almost identical, and they both have nice smooth foreheads.'
Aside from their larger-than-average broods, Suleman says she doesn't see the similarities.
'I admire her. She saves children’s lives,' she noted of Jolie's humanitarian efforts.
What's there to compare? Suleman says she doesn't see a physical resemblance to between herself and Jolie
'I get that we both have a lot of kids, but I don’t think I look anything like her.'
Unlike the actress, who may have some help managing her six children with Brad Pitt, Suleman is largely on her own.
'I do a lot! I’m a cook, a chauffeur and a nanny,' she told In Touch.
Suleman says she spends 'a couple hundred dollars a week on groceries' for her ten sons and four daughters and does 'several loads' of laundry a day.
She has come under fire last month after signing up for welfare after spending her savings on a trip to rehab, despite reportedly making more than the minimum amount required to qualify for federal financial assistance.
Tough image: Suleman also posed as Jolie playing Lara Croft in Tomb Raider
TMZ reported
at the time Suleman has been receiving $1,800 a month for food, $1,000
for emergency cash, as well as medical benefits to help with mental
heath and dental issues after signing up for the programme in January.
But she is only eligible for the support if she brought in less than $119,000 in a calendar year, and according to TMZ, authorities believe she may have made over $200,000.
According to the website, The L.A. County Dept. of Welfare Fraud Prevention and Investigation has started calling her various employers from the past year to figure out exactly how much the television personality has earned, sources told the website.
The
investigation includes combing through bank statements, canceled checks
and wire transfer receipts, as well as asking her employers who else
she may have worked for.
If she is found guilty of committing welfare fraud, she could face three or more years in prison.
Suleman did not comment on the allegations. But she remains resilient in the face of hardship.
She told In Touch: 'We’ve hit rock bottom, but our struggles are what shape us.'
