Former Blossom star Mayim Bialik doesn't want her nerdy romance on The Big Bang Theory to go to the next level.

Mayim plays geeky neurobiologist Amy Farrah Fowler and love interest of experimental physicist Sheldon Cooper, hilariously portrayed by award-winning Jim Parsons on the CBS hit comedy.

The couple routinely share awkward moments of fumbling intimacy and Mayim said she likes it that way.
Mayim, who starred as Blossom Russo on the eponymous 1990s NBC sitcom, said she was surprised by a sexual reference made by her on-screen partner during a recent episode.
'Sheldon made a comment that he could picture [our characters] having coitus [and] honestly, I was surprised that the producers were ready to have his character say that,' she said.

Mayim said it was 'really sweet' how the couple depicts an 'as-yet nonsexual romantic intimate relationship.'
Like her whip-smart character, Mayim also has no shortage of intelligence.
The San Diego native was raised as a Valley Girl in Los Angeles and went to school at top-notch UCLA after turning down Harvard and Yale.

She earned a bachelor's degree in neuroscience and Hebrew and Jewish studies at UCLA in 2000 and a doctorate in neuroscience from the prestigious university in 2007.
Balik told Today that she wants to encourage girls to pursue study in the sciences.
She has partnered with DeVry University to inspire young women to pursue their educational goals.

The mother of two confessed that she didn't watch television, but had a ready answer when asked what other series she'd like to guest on herself.
'I was a huge fan of 'Northern Exposure' 20 years ago. I actually was seated next to (its star) Rob Morrow at this Alzheimer's benefit the other night and I was geeking out in my head the whole time,' the actress said.
The newly single Mayim has been running her own website that provides a Jewish twist on parenting called Kveller.
