Hilary Duff and Ashton Kutcher, are all set and soon going to get a chance at romance on “Two and a Half Men.” According to an April 2 report by E! Online, the former “Lizzie McGuire” star will play a love interest for Ashton’s character Walden.

However, Hilary’s character ends up unlucky in love when Walden’s character falls for her grandmother (Marilu Henner). Marilu should love getting to play a “GILF” alongside a hot young stud like Ashton. “Two and a Half Men” has a history of having male characters fall for older women -- Alan (Jon Cryer) and Charlie (Charlie Sheen) both dated a rich older neighbor portrayed by "Raising Hope" star Cloris Leachman, and Jamie Pressly played a love interest for Jake (Angus T. Jones).

This isn’t the first time Duff has guest-starred as a gal who finds herself in an awkward romantic situation. She recently returned to TV for an episode of “Raising Hope” in which she played Rachel, an ex-girlfriend of Jimmy (Lucas Neff). Unbeknownst to her, the new friend that she makes at the gym is Jimmy’s wife Sabrina (Shannon Woodward).

This also isn’t the first time a Disney star has played the love interest of a “Two and a Half Men” character -- former “Hannah Montana” actress Miley Cyrus played a countrified cutie who stole the heart of poor Jake in a multi-episode story arc that aired last year.

Interest rate cap on credit union is raised

Credit unions will go head-to-head with payday lenders after the Government announced it would raise the cap on interest charges so that unions do not make losses on short-term loans. The Treasury yesterday confirmed it will introduce legislation that from April 2014 would raise the interest rate ceiling on credit union loans from two per cent to three per cent a month following a consultation with lenders. Three per cent a month works out at APR of 42.6 per cent. Currently, restrictions on interest rates mean that while unions can make decent returns on long-term loans, loans of a similar length to those offered by payday lenders tend to operate at a loss. Helping hand: Short-term credit union loans will be more expensive, but more sustainable for unions and still well cheaper than payday loans.
