Google exec invests in Indian health venture – report
A Google India executive is among a group of investors ploughing funds into DocSuggest Healthcare Services, a Hyderabad-based company that allows patients to book appointments with doctors and hospitals online or by mobile phone.According to a “top executive” from DocSuggest, speaking to Techcircle, Rajan Anandan (managing director at Google India) and Taher Khorakiwala (from Mumbai Angels, an investment company) have invested, although the sums have not been disclosed.The two are joined in this latest round of funding – DocSuggest was founded in 2009 – by Indiagames founder Vishal Gondal, and Sanjay Parthasarathy, founder and CEO of Indix, a data analytics firm.Gondal and Parthasarathy are already investors in DocSuggest.Techcircle reports that the Indian health venture will use most of the money to expand operations to other cities beyond the four it currently operates in: Mumbai, NCR, Bangalore and Hyderabad.“A part of the fund will go towards acquiring more customers and to make the platform more efficient,” Shantanu Jha, co-founder and Chief executive, told Techcircle.DocSuggest claims that it has a network of more than 11,500 doctors and 3,500 hospitals.The company charges doctors based on the number of appointments, as well their specialisation and city. Doctors can register online.“We also have our sales team to enrol doctors,” added Jha. “The service is completely free for patients.”
