“We were doing a house-to-house search and in some cases were searching attics and storages,” Calaveras County Sheriff’s Capt. Jim Macedo said Saturday night. “It’s a difficult area to search. It’s rural, it’s remote.” Nydailynews reported
The 12-year-old brother of the unidentified girl first spotted an intruder inside their home, police said in a news release. The boy then called his parents, who were out at the time, and they alerted 911.
