Two people die in a house fire in Melbourne - as firefighters treat the blaze as suspicious

Victoria's arson squad is investigating after two people were found dead following a house fire in Melbourne's north.

Fire crews found the bodies after being called to put out the blaze in Kingsbury about 3.40am on Saturday - with crews on the scene in four minutes. 

The fire was brought under control in 30 minutes and arson squad detectives are investigating the incident.

Fire and Rescue Victoria dispatched 30 firefighters attend the blaze.

An arson chemist has also been dispatched to the scene with the cause of the fire yet to be determined.

'Wearing breathing apparatus, they worked quickly to gain access to the house and to knock the fire down,' a Fire and Rescue Victoria spokesperson said.
