Teen student is 'caught upskirting Year 8 girls' at a public high school - just weeks after another pupil was found filming a boy using the toilets in the same playground

A student has allegedly been caught using his mobile phone to film up the skirts of unsuspecting teenage girls at a public high school.

The incident comes just weeks after another boy was cautioned by police for filming a much younger male student using the toilets at the same school. 

That youth made full admissions to taking images of a Year 7 boy on the grounds of South Sydney High School at Maroubra in the city's south-east. 

Police were again called to the school on December 10 after a student reported a boy taking photographs up the skirts of Year 8 students.

Daily Mail Australia understands police seized the boy's phone and recovered deleted images which showed girls' bottoms, upper thighs and underwear.

They were contacting potential witnesses but had been unable to identify the girls.  

'Officers attended a high school in Maroubra on Thursday and commenced an investigation after concerns were raised regarding images and videos on a student's phone,' a police spokeswoman said. 'Inquiries continue.' 

Police from the Eastern Beaches command had attended the same school after another student was reported taking inappropriate pictures of a male student on October 19.

'Following inquiries, a boy was dealt with under the Young Offenders Act for film person in private act without consent,' a police spokeswoman said last month.

A spokesman for the NSW Department of Education said of the first incident: 'A caution was issued to the alleged perpetrator who made a full admission.'

'The principal and police have liaised with both families involved in the incident and support has been given or offered to them.'

The spokesman said the first incident had been reported to police within the hour and the school had offered 'all necessary supports to all concerned'.  

South Sydney High School takes Year 7 to 12 students from Botany, East Botany, Banksmeadow and parts of Maroubra and Pagewood. 

The school's motto is the Latin phrase spectemur agendo, which translates to 'let us be known by our deeds'. 

Among its alumni are fashion designer Alex Perry, Test cricketer and television personality Mike Whitney and retired Rabbitohs NRL player John Sutton.

The school was holding its presentation day on Tuesday and marking the last day of term four tomorrow.
