Muscle-bound former footy player, 28, sues a hospital for more than half a MILLION dollars over alleged 'botched' surgery on his hand - claiming it's ruined his modelling career

A Brisbane model and former AFL player has launched legal action after surgery on his hand went terribly wrong which resulted in a loss of work and destroyed his self-esteem.

Zaine Alan Pringle, 28, is suing the Metro South Hospital and Health Service for negligence and $592,801 in damages over the botched surgery at Princess Alexandra Hospital he claims left him with unnecessary scarring and pain.

He had to have three additional surgeries to repair the damage, and claims he lost modelling work as he was only able to model hats and sunglasses because of his scarred arm.

Mr Pringle injured his left ring finger while playing AFL in 2017, his claim to the District Court states.

He alleges surgical errors during the June 2018 procedure would not have happened had the surgeon been properly supervised, according to the claim.

Court documents state Mr Pringle was left with scars on both forearms and down his finger and palm on his left hand, the Courier Mail reported.

'(Mr Pringle) began experiencing … low self-esteem about the way his hand looked, and anxiety and lack of confidence in relation to social interaction … impacted his ability to return to modelling,' the claim states.

He also alleged his other career as a fire safety technician was affected due to  missing performance appraisals and pay rises while off work.

His damages claim includes $310,000 for future financial losses, and $80,575 for previous losses.

Metro South Hospital and Health Service was unable to immediately comment on the case when contacted by Daily Mail Australia on Tuesday night.

Mr Pringle has been a model for ten years and is currently represented by Sydney agency FiveTwenty Modelling.

The 185cm tall model previously had a contract with surf wear fashion label City Beach and was planning to work in Japan before the botched surgery crushed his ambitions.

Mr Pringle also represented Australia at the Manhunt International male model search competition in 2017 but didn't progress through to the top 16 semi finals.

The last post on his modelling Facebook page was 12 months ago, where he previously addressed his surgery issues.

'This pic was taken two days before the second surgery on my finger... looking at this is the only thing keeping me motivated to push on and not get down about what has happened,' Mr Pringle posted in July 2018, a month after the first surgery.

'Once I am past this little hick up in life and I have a fourth surgery on my finger.... hopefully things will be looking up and I can get back to smashing it!'
