SkyBet suspended a childless man's betting account after he joked he 'just lost the kids' Christmas money on red,' during a live chat on a casino game.

Morgan Thomas Gibson said his Christmas was 'ruined,' after his joke to other gamblers cost him the chance to bet for a few hours.

The 23-year-old was unable to login just after midnight on Boxing Day morning to and discovered his account had been suspended due to the comments he made during a previous chat.

SkyBet then refused to allow him to use the website, unless he changed the limit gamblers are able to spend on the site.

Sharing his ordeal online, the conveyancing case manage, said: 'I messaged Sky at 12.40am on the 26th, essentially Christmas Day night.

'I have been a member with Sky Bet for a few years and I use it every week.

'But at around 12.30am, I realised it wasn't working and wouldn't let me log in.'

Mr Gibson contacted Sky Bet via their live chat support and spoke with a customer support agent.

Customer support informed him that the account had been suspended because he had joked: 'Just lost the kids' Christmas money on red' during a live casino chat.

The customer support representative questioned Morgan over whether his comment had been genuine, to which the young man explained that they weren't - and that he does not even have children.

He said: 'Sky wanted me to set a deposit limit to reopen my account.. They then re-opened my account.

'It ruined Christmas because we couldn't carry on playing Sky casino roulette.

'I was so shocked with the whole experience that I thought I would share the post on Twitter to show others what had happened.'

Social media users rushed to share their thoughts, with some commenting you can't 'have a laugh anymore' while others were happy the account was suspended.

One Twitter user wrote: 'It's crazy the world today. You are not even allowed to have a laugh anymore! It's pathetic this world..... F*** 'em!'

Someone else added: 'I'm glad they suspended it. Who even says that about kids' Xmas money. More fool you.'

Another person wrote: 'Be careful what you say. It may be all jokes but they have to deal with gambling addicts on a daily basis, they're only trying to protect you and your prospects.
