'Partying during a pandemic': TikTok stars are slammed for traveling from LA to the Bahamas for a group vacation after telling fans to stay home to save lives

A group of TikTok stars have come under fire for flying from COVID-19 hotspot California to the Bahamas despite at least one of them telling fans to stay home amid the pandemic.

Charli, 16, and Dixie D'Amelio, 19, Chase Hudson, 18, Noah Beck, 19, and Madi Monroe, 16, were spotted at Atlantis Bahamas with videos of the young influencers emerging late Monday.

Atlantis Bahamas required them to show proof of a negative COVID-19 test before entering the resort. They are also required to stay in a 'safe zone' on the island for the duration of the stay and are eligible for free rapid testing.

Clips and images shared on social media show Hudson and Beck posing with fans at a pool. One image shows Beck posing with a fan on Twitter.

Footage shows the group with someone who appears to be a staff member wearing an Atlantis shirt. Another image showed Beck and Hudson in what appeared to be the Saint Laurent store located within Atlantis Bahamas' Crystal Court shopping area.

Monroe, who is believed to have a net worth of about $1million, shared a photo of herself on a plane with the caption: 'I'm on my way.'

Several people quickly took to social media to call out the group for traveling amid a pandemic, especially when health experts have warned against it.

The most famous of the group, Charli, who has a net worth of $8million, was specifically called out for previously telling fans to stay home amid the pandemic, which has killed more than 338,000 people and infected more than 19.5 million Americans.

'No cause the way charli even SPOKE out on live abt how she said she'd do better staying home and social distancing then they all go to the f**king BAHAMAS? could that not wait??? like its ok take a break from social media i get it but you can do that AT HOME,' one person shared.

Another wrote: 'charli damelio won person of the year.. she's literally in the bahamas rn with 15 other people during a pandemic and has been doing so all year.'

'Not charli d'amelio telling people to stay home and stay safe and stop being seflish etc, when she is literally with friends in the f**king bahamas rn,' a third person wrote.

Another shared: 'There is no way charli d'amelio got on live and told everyone to stop hanging out with their friends bc they're endangering the people around them while she's been doing the EXACT same thing and is currently in the Bahamas with her friends...'

The users were referring to an Instagram Live video in which Charli, whose family recently landed a reality series on Hulu, was seen telling people to be safe.

'Please stop being so inconsiderate to others,' she said the clip. 'You are putting other people at risk.'

Meanwhile, health officials in Los Angeles are trying to grapple with the overwhelming number of hospitalizations as COVID-19 cases continue to rise.

Just last week California became the first state to surpass 2 million cases of the virus.

And on Tuesday, the state's strict stay-at-home orders were renewed indefinitely for much of California, as the state's top health official said that many hospitals were teetering on the brink of crisis.

Tough restrictions imposed earlier this month on social and economic life were extended in densely populated Southern California - home to more than half of the state's 40 million people - based on data showing intensive care units there likely to stay filled at or near capacity for weeks to come.

The stay-at-home orders, among the strictest in the US, are also being renewed in the agricultural heartland of the San Joaquin Valley, whose hospital ICUs have likewise remained for weeks with little or no bed space to spare.

California Health and Human Services Secretary Dr Mark Ghaly said Los Angeles County, the most populous county, has been particularly hard hit by weeks of surging infections and hospitalizations.

At least 90 per cent of the county's hospitals, he said, have been stretched so thin by the influx of COVID-19 patients that they were forced to divert incoming emergency patients to other facilities for much of the day over the past weekend.

No hospitals have yet formally notified public health authorities that they have reached the point of operating on a 'crisis care' basis, involving wholesale rationing of medical treatment and supplies to the sickest patients, Ghaly said.

However, he added, 'some hospitals in Southern California have put in place some practices that would be part of crisis care,' such as weighing 'the effectiveness of certain treatments for certain patients who are unlikely to survive, or do well.'

Ghaly said he knew of no instances so drastic as to require doctors to choose, for example, between two patients who needed to be put on a ventilator when only one was available. But he said hospital managers were doing all they could to prepare for deteriorating conditions in order to avoid such dire scenarios.

'We could see the worst of it in early January,' he told reporters in an online briefing. 'And most of the hospital leaders I've talked to in Southern California are bracing for exactly that.'

Dixie was seen spitting out a snail from the chef's paella on camera, later addressing the situation and saying she pukes 'at the smell, thought or the taste of anything'Charli received backlash for her antics on the web series causing her to lose a million followers overnight

The trip to the Bahamas isn't the first time Charli and her sister Dixie have come under fire. Dixie and Charli were accused of disrespecting their private chef causing them to lose one million followers

Despite those terrifying statistics and predictions, the TikTok stars reportedly opted to travel to the Bahamas anyway.

Travel to Atlantis Bahamas required them to show proof of a negative COVID-19 test before entering the resort.

They are also required to stay in a 'safe zone' on the island for the duration of the stay and are eligible for free rapid testing.

Travelers to other parts of The Bahamas need to undergo an additional COVID-19 test upon arrival, and then another five days into their vacation.

The trip to the Bahamas isn't the first time Charli and her sister Dixie have come under fire.

Charli - who boasts a whopping 103 million followers on TikTok - is the current record holder for most followed on the platform as of December 1.

A former competitive dancer, she saw a meteoric rise to fame on the Millennial-centric short-form video platform when her dances went viral.

In one of the family's many ventures including a web series titled Dinner With The D'Amelios, Charli and Dixie found themselves in hot water after they were accused of disrespecting their private chef.

Dixie was seen dramatically spitting out a snail from the chef's paella and fleeing the table while Charli seemed to scoff at the meal while asking for Dino Nuggets instead.

Both sisters addressed the situation on social media as they said it was all drama for the camera, as Dixie claimed the production team wanted to 'get a reaction out of her,' as she pukes 'at the smell, thought or the taste of anything'.

A crying Charli took to TikTok after losing nearly a million followers in one day to discuss the situation as she said she felt 'disrespected' as a human being and was getting 'really, really messed-up messages' from people 'telling me to hurt myself'.

'I just feel like that’s not OK, and if this is the community that I’m in and the community that I put myself in, I don’t know that I want to do that anymore,' she said.

The sisters have their own podcast, Charli and Dixie: 2 Chix , and are both repped by UTA, with Charli even having a coffee named after her at Dunkin' Donuts.
