Horrified daughter appeals for help to find 'evil b*******' who 'dug up her father's grave' and left the coffin undisturbed as she discovers 3ft deep hole at his church burial plot

A daughter has been left horrified after discovering her beloved father's grave had been dug up on Christmas Day.

Tina Sutcliffe found a 3ft deep hole where her father Eric Richards was buried 16 years ago, at St Helen's Church in Pinxton, on the Nottinghamshire-Derbyshire border.

Though his coffin had not been disturbed, Ms Sutcliffe was left horrified by the desecration.

She has now launched a social media appeal to find the 'evil evil b******' behind the hole.

Animals or an error by gravediggers have not been ruled out, according to the Sun. Police are investigating. Pictured: A library image of St Helen's Church in Pinxton

Tina, 59, said: 'I'm just absolutely baffled, I haven't slept since it all happened.

'My friend came down and told me what she had seen. Me and my two brothers are just baffled, everyone is - it just doesn't make sense.

'I keep waking up in the middle of the night and I haven't slept properly since as I just keep seeing it in my head.

'My partner ended up cooking Christmas dinner but I just wasn't really hungry or in the mood after finding out.'

She added: 'It's just horrible, why would anyone do that? He's been dead all these years.

'I just can't believe it, it is just horrendous.

'We've had to tell our mum but she's very poorly so it's really hard on her but we couldn't not tell her.'

Eric was 63 when he died 16 years ago and worked as a drayman. He had two sons and one daughter.

Others have also backed up her outrage, including friend Jason Ward, who said: 'Absolutely heartbreaking, I feel so much for you Tina Sutcliffe, you and the family.

'Pinxton is a place I proudly call home but this isn't home!! This is a inhumane act and how anybody could do such a thing is beyond me.
