'Bro, just sleep in a little': Aussie reveals how bright it is at 4.30am in Queensland with dozens of surfers already out on the waves - as the state refuses to adopt daylight savings

A TikTok user who uploaded a video of surfers in the waters off the Queensland coast during morning light at 4:30am said they probably should 'just sleep a little'.    

The video from user Ben's Big Adventure was captioned 'Daylight savings stitches up the Queenslanders'.    

'Now I just want to establish the fact that it's genuinely 4:30am right now and look at this,' Ben said in the video. 

The video pans across the ocean, where more than a dozen surfers can be seen in the water as they await their next wave.

In the TikTok vision, surfers are seen making the most of the early morning light due to Queensland not observing daylight savings to catch some waves 

'Like bro, just sleep in a little, c'mon,' Ben added.  

Ben captured the footage, which was reacted to more than 23,000 times, off Snapper Rocks on Queensland's Gold Coast. 

Queensland is one of three Australian jurisdictions that do not observe daylight savings, along with Western Australia and the Northern Territory. 

During December in Queensland the sun rises as early as 4:44am. 

Ben said it was time for the Sunshine State to finally embrace daylight savings.

'Legit though Queensland needs to start daylight savings,' he said.

Commentators said if Queensland did observe daylight savings, they would wave the extra light at the end of the day rather than at the start 

One comment on the video said: 'If you had daylight savings in Queensland, you'd get this extra light at the end of the day when it's actually useful instead of 4:30 in the morning'. 

Another responded: 'The sun literally sets at like 7pm... that's pretty late compared to the whole year where it was like 4-5pm sunset. It's useful for early morning people'. 

Queensland previously trialed daylight savings and discussed it as recently as 2010 when a bill was introduced into parliament. 

The bill was defeated, with a lack of support in regional areas outside the south-east corner of the state cited by the government for their opposition.  

Western Australia last held a referendum on daylight savings in 2009, which returned a 'no' vote of 54.57 per cent. 

The Northern Territory has only had daylight savings during periods of both world wars, in 1917-18 and 1942-44.
