Bodycam footage of fatal police shooting in Mississippi shows man in underwear answering door to officers with a SHOTGUN - before he is killed by cops in a standoff

Police body camera has captured the moment officers were greeted by a man with a shotgun as they responded to a domestic violence call in Mississippi.

The man - identified as 47-year-old Kenneth Dale Miller - was later shot dead by cops after a dramatic standoff that lasted nearly three hours.

The incident occurred in Oxford on Thursday evening after a neighbor called 911 claiming he may have witnessed a domestic violence incident at The Mark Apartments - a condominium complex in the city's south.

'I just heard screaming, and what I saw was a guy pull a lady up the stairs and back into their apartments,' the caller told a dispatcher in an audio recording which was released by the Oxford Police Department.

Two officers arrived on the scene 10 minute later, knocking on the door of the suspect's apartment.

Bodycam footage shows it was pitch black outside as they waited for the man to answer.

Officers turned on torch lights as they heard the man approaching the door in the dark.

Footage then shows Miller opening the door with a shotgun pointed directly at the cops.

'Oh s**t, put the gun down!' one of the policemen orders as they then point their own weapon directly back at Miller.

'Put the gun down!' both officers repeatedly yell before the body cam footage cuts out.

According to local news network WREG, a 'female victim ran out the door to safety and Miller shut the door and barricaded himself inside'.

Officers spent more than two and half hours on the scene trying to negotiate with Miller, as others cops were called in for back up.

However, at 9.50 pm, Miller emerged from the apartment onto his balcony and was allegedly pointing his shotgun at officers.

Cops promptly fired back, fatally striking him. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

'These events are difficult for everyone in the community. Our prayers go out to all families involved,' Police Chief Jeff McCutchen said in a statement.

He did not reveal how many officers were on the scene at the time of the shooting, nor did he release the name of the officer who fired the fatal bullet.

A photo of Miller has also not been released to the public by Oxford Police.
