Two people have been confirmed dead and several others have been injured following a steam pipe explosion at a Veterans Affairs hospital in Connecticut.
The incident occurred at the VA Medical Center in West Haven on Friday morning as repair work was being carried out.
Local police say it is 'isolated incident with no threats to the public'.

Scores of EMT workers descended on the scene following the explosion around 8 am, while local TV stations reported that smoke could be seen billowing from the building. NBC News set up a live scene recording, which showed the area being cordoned off with yellow police tape.
Connecticut Senator Richard Blumenthal confirmed the deaths in a statement.
One victim is reported to be a hospital employee, while the other was a contractor.
Meanwhile, there are reports that several other people have been injured and a third person remains unaccounted for.
Charlie Grady, an FBI spokesperson in New Haven, said state police are leading the investigation.
'The FBI will assist Connecticut State Police as needed,' he said.
