HOW TO HAVE THE CUT OF YOUR LIFE

None of us are strangers to a bad haircut. Unless, of course, you go to Lee Radley. Having styled everyone from Jessica Biel and Gwyneth Paltrow to Helen Mirren, he’s known as the man who won’t just give you a cut – but the best cut of your life. Here are his tips…

✂ ‘Forget rules about your age and face shape – if it’s a good cut it will suit you. Be it a friend or celebrity, show your stylist a picture of the person whose hair you’d like to emulate.’

✂  ‘The difference between a so-so style and a keep-for-ever cut is one that syncs your personality with your appearance. Wear your favourite lipstick or heels to your appointment – anything that gives the stylist clues as to who you are.’

✂ ‘Tell your stylist your “zero to hero” window, which is how long you can spend on your hair every day.’ Lee will work his hero product for all styles – Nicky Clarke Hair Raising (£16, nickyclarke.com) – through clients’ hair before blow-drying.
