Beauty Buzz: Katie Holmes reveals her beauty essentials; plus our favourite new spa and sweet beauty treats for Easter
Natural beauty Katie Holmes pulls off the kind of girl-next-door freshness that puts statement lips and smoky eyes to shame. But as I find out, she has some beautifying tricks up her sleeve. She’s just become the poster girl for Bobbi Brown’s new Long-Wear Even Finish Compact Foundation (1, £32, available from April). But the devil, she insists, is in the invisible details. ‘Thank God Bobbi’s Shimmer Brick [2, £32] exists,’ she says. ‘Subtle, yet so easy to apply. I use my finger to pat it on everywhere – even under my eyes.’
However the Manhattanite’s real secret lies in her quick-fix lipgloss makeovers. ‘I always carry Rich Color Gloss [3, £17] in my bag. I’ll put it on in a lift and feel good straight away,’ she says. She’ll go easy on the blush (we don’t believe a word of it but she says her cheeks have a tendency to look like tomatoes) and uses a trick she picked up from Bobbi backstage at the presentation for her A/W 13 Holmes & Yang fashion line. Patting Raspberry Pot Rouge (4, £18) over her lipgloss for the subtlest of tints, she epitomises everything her mother and grandmother taught her to believe about beauty: ‘Make-up highlights the woman.
