Oscar-nominated actress Julianne
Moore had kind words for polarizing politician Sarah Palin, whom she
portrayed in last year's political drama Game Change.
Moore, 52, won critical acclaim for her portrayal of vice-presidential candidate Palin in the HBO film based on the 2008 United States presidential election.
The actress adorns the cover of and told the New York Times style outlet that she felt for Palin.
'I think whatever you do, you
have to have a real amount of compassion for your character as a human
being,' said Moore, adding that she felt Palin's situation was
untenable.
The red-haired beauty noted that Palin put up a fight and worked hard on the campaign trail.
'She had an incredible natural charisma and a crazy innate confidence,' Moore said.
The Big Lebowski actress later this year will play the crazy mother in the remake of the 1976 supernatural horror film Carrie.
She will star alongside Chloë Grace Moretz who plays the title character.
Moore told T magazine about her approach to the film based on a Stephen King novel.
The mother-of-two said her
character only has her child, 'so when she starts to move away from her
and into the world it's incredibly threatening.'
Carrie's strictly religious mother constantly warns her about the dangers of the outside world.
'The horrible thing is she's right!' the actress said with a smile.
Julianne has been married since 2003 to film director and screenwriter Bart Freudlich.
The couple met on the set of the 1996 film The Myth Of Fingerprints, which Bart wrote and directed.
They have a 15-year-old son, Caleb, and a 10-year-old daughter, Liv.
Julianne was nominated for an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress in 1998 for Boogie Nights.
She also had Oscar nominations for Best Actress for The End Of The Affair and Far From Heaven.
