Ryan Lochte's wife Kayla shows off her scars in topless snap as she reflects on her breast implant removal surgery: 'It's okay to embrace what God has given you'

She got her breast implants removed in March after years of struggling with an array of health issues believed to be caused by breast implant illness.

And on Thursday, Kayla Lochte shared a candid post of her topless form to proudly showcase her scars from her explant surgery.

The 30-year-old model, who is the wife of Olympic swimmer Ryan Lochte, reflected on her decision to move forward with the removal and applaud women who have decided to do the same, putting their 'health before their image.'

The mother of two had a towel around her waist with her hands covering her chest - showcasing her explant surgery scars beneath.

Kayla wrote that 'there isn't a pretty way to take a photo of scars but there is a beautiful message for them being there.'

Adding: 'There is much more awareness and talk regarding explant surgery and I am so happy so many women are deciding to put their health before their image. It is not easy.'

The former Playboy model continued: 'I am/have been peeling back years of the "critique layers", fixated on an image of perfection created by myself, agents, agencies, society, generational curses etc. I have been trying to discover who is at the inner core of my being before being told who and what I needed to be to succeed.'

Kayla said: 'Which I accomplished a lot in doing so...(I also believe in timing and seasons so I wouldn't change the past because who knows if I would be the same person I am today).'

She noted that if she could go back in time, she would tell 'my curvy blonde 20 year old self who quit her corporate job to pursue her dreams in the modeling industry, I would tell her that it's okay to embrace what God has given you.'

While 'it's also okay to work on yourself while learning to love your insecurities. We can still have insecurities while working on them,' she added.

'You will never obtain perfection. God created us imperfect for a reason. Your health will always be valuable and priceless. Finding a healthy balance in between the extremes, embracing our natural beauty while nourishing our health is where it's at.'

'I know our idea of beauty is always evolving but it's really encouraging to see a lot of women loving themselves in their own skin and honoring their health. I may be rambling on but I am unpacking a lot in my brain.' 

Kayla spoke out about her breast implant removal surgery in March, speaking out on the symptoms she had prior to the removal.

She revealed she had fatigue, joint pain, suicidal thoughts, and low libido, which led to her decision to have them taken out. 

She wrote on her Instagram: '2020 was a scary year for my health and mental wellness which I pray to never relive again,' the former Playboy model wrote. 'I tend to be open about my struggles I kept a smile on as much as I could but I felt a lot of shame and embarrassment to have so much to be thankful for — yet I was drowning.' 

Four months ago: Kayla spoke out about her breast implant removal surgery in March, speaking out on the symptoms she had prior to the removal

'I was afraid of myself, my thoughts and didn’t know how I could continue to live feeling the way that I was,' she continued. 'BUT I PROMISE YOU There is hope — do not give up. There are valleys and there are mountaintops and I am currently on the climb.'

Kayla said that her range of symptoms included bladder issues, swollen lymph nodes, anxiety and difficulty concentrating. 

Kayla explained on her social media that her doctor believed the implants were leaking inside her.

She said that following the surgery, her lymph node in her neck is no longer swollen, she doesn't have to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night and her bags under her eyes have disappeared.

Kayla shared before and after pictures of her face, showing that her skin tone changed drastically and the dark circles were gone. 

She is mom to son Caiden, four, and daughter Liv, two, with husband Ryan, 36.
