Pregnant woman is SHOT by three balaclava-wearing men as they tried to break into her home in a terrifying 4am raid armed with a baseball bat

A pregnant woman was shot in the leg when three men wearing balaclavas broke into her and her partner's home in the middle of the night.

Three men tried to break into the woman's home in Clarkson, 34km north of Perth, and when she ran outside a struggle began at 4am. 

The woman, believed to be in her 20s, was shot in the leg, the West Australian reported.

She was taken to hospital and is in a stable condition, as well as the male occupant of the home who was also injured.

It is unclear if he was injured during the attack. 

Neighbours were woken up by banging and yelling that came from the house, with one man complaining it sounded like the door was being kicked in.

He then heard the gunshot and a woman screaming, before the woman ran to another house for help. 

Officers seized a baseball bat at the scene, and believe the men arrived at the home in a white 4WD. 

Joondalup Acting Detective Inspector Stephen Foley said: 'We have spoken to both victims.

'Our inquiries are being conducted to establish… if there was a connection between the three offenders and the two victims. But at this stage we are still working on that.'
