Schoolboy, 14, is arrested for attempted murder after 13-year-old and his father suffered knife wounds in attack outside their home
A 14-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a schoolboy and his father were attacked with a knife.
Armed police and paramedics raced to the scene after a boy, 13, and his father, 37, were left with serious injuries following a knife attack outside their home in the Sheldon area of Birmingham just before 10pm last night.
The 13-year-old victim has been kept in hospital for further treatment while his father, who was slashed across the back, is recovering at home, West Midlands Police said.
A 14-year-old boy has since been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and wounding, the force said.
He is currently in police custody.

Two ambulances, two paramedic officers, a MERIT trauma doctor and a critical care paramedic all attended the incident.
One eyewitness claimed the incident began as a 'dispute between teenagers'.
Another woman, who lives nearby, overheard a 'commotion' just before 10pm before 'four or five police cars' turned up at the scene.
Residents tended to the injured boy before emergency services arrived.
Officers are now carrying out door-to-door enquiries and taking witness statements today.
West Midlands Ambulance Service said: 'We were called at 9:53pm to reports of a stabbing at Wychwood Crescent, Sheldon.
'We sent two ambulances, two paramedic officers and a MERIT trauma doctor and critical care paramedic to the scene.
'We treated a teenage boy for potentially serious injuries and a man for injuries not believed to be serious.
'Both were conveyed to hospital for further treatment.'
Detective Inspector Jonathan Kiteley, of West Midlands Police, said: 'A teenage boy and his dad were attacked outside their house on Wychwood Crescent, Sheldon just before 10pm last night (10 August).
'We're investigating and a 14-year-old boy has already been arrested. He's in police custody on suspicion of attempted murder and wounding.

'The dad and son were attacked with a knife and treated by paramedics at the scene before being taken to hospital.
'The dad, aged 37, was slashed across the back and is recovering at home. His 13-year-old son suffered more serious injuries and has been kept in hospital for further treatment.
