A wealthy Atlanta suburb has launched a fresh bid to secede from the crime-ridden Georgia city after a man was shot dead outside a neighborhood bar.

Bill White, the CEO of the Buckhead City Committee, told Fox News Tuesday of his fight to have the area separated from the city of Atlanta entirely in an effort to create their own police department.

'We are fed up with this,' White said in response to a shooting near a Buckhead lounge that left one dead on Saturday.

'Atlanta police are very busy right now. They're under-resourced, they're understaffed.'

The city has been long been a hotspot for crime, with the Atlanta Police Department reporting a 33 percent in murders this year compared to July 24, 2020. Meanwhile, shooting incidents have spiked 59 percent with shooting victims increased a whopping 96 percent, the outlet reports.

White added that law enforcement in Atlanta have essentially been 'telegraphing' to dangerous criminals that they can spread into neighboring Buckhead.

'What's going on here in Atlanta is pervasive,' he said.

'The police are saying we can't arrest ourselves out of this problem, and I have to say, on behalf of Buckhead City, we have not arrested enough in Buckhead.'

White also revealed the template behind Buckheads' plan to institute law and order, naming former New York City Mayor Rudy Guiliani and his successful efforts at making it the 'safest large city in America.'

'We're going to do that with our own police department, that I promise you, sir,' he said.

The Buckhead City Committee CEO specifically called out Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms and the city's police department in ignoring a large homeless camp known locally as 'The Hill.'

Lance Bottoms previously admitted she didn't know how to tackle her city's burgeoning crime problem.

The encampment was discovered after an area reporter tracked a stolen Citi Bike to the location.

'It's a very dangerous place,' White said. 'There's security, they have weapons… there's a lot of crime being committed by those men and women who are in those encampments.'

Meanwhile, White states that the neighborhood's bid to become a city will need to pass the Georgia Assemble.

The bid will be included on the upcoming Nov. 2022 ballot, according to Fox News.
