Third man is charged with the murder of a Melbourne father who vanished six weeks ago before his body was found in bushland

A third man has been charged over the murder of a father who disappeared six weeks ago.

The alleged murderer, 49, was arrested on Monday afternoon when police raided his Melbourne home.

Forklift driver Brendon Farrell has not been seen since May 31 when he suspiciously disappeared from his home on Kidds Road in Doveton.

The man will face the charges in Melbourne Magistrates' Court on Tuesday.

Another two men were arrested on Friday and charged with murder.

Victoria Police Assistant Commissioner Robert Hill admitted the case had been difficult and commended the work of detectives.

'It's been complex investigation conducted by detectives from the Missing Persons Squad and the outcome thus far is testament to their commitment,' he said.

'Our thoughts are with Brendon's family and loved ones following what has no doubt been a very difficult and traumatic few weeks.

Mr Farrell went missing over a month ago from his home in Kidds Road in the Melbourne suburb of Doveton

'The investigation remains ongoing and again we encourage anyone with information who hasn't already spoken to police to come forward.'

Mr Farrell's disappearance was reported by family members as being out of character.

Human remains found in bushland Noble Park are to be confirmed by the coroner as being that of Mr Farrell.
