Florida man, 47, is arrested for threatening his ex-boss with a can of Twisted Tea and a 28-inch metal pipe after he was fired from the RV repair company earlier this week
Deputies were called to the Port Charlotte Publix parking lot after receiving calls that 47-year-old Shane Gillis had been threatening his former boss
A Florida man was detained in a Publix parking lot on Sunday after he repeatedly threatened his former boss over the phone before approaching authorities and his ex-employer with a Twisted Tea and a 28-inch metal pipe.
The Charlotte County Sheriff's Office shared in a Tuesday Facebook that deputies were called to the Port Charlotte scene after receiving calls that 47-year-old Shane Gillis had been threatening his former boss.
As deputies arrived to the parking lot located at 24051 Peachland Blvd, Gillis was overheard on the phone asserting that he 'had something' for his ex-employer, and was on his way back to Mr. Mobile RV Repair.
Gillis had been fired from his job there 'earlier this week,' authorities told the Charlotte Sun.
Deputies also said that during one call, Gillis reportedly told his ex-boss: 'I'm going to end you right now. I'm coming for you straight through the parking lot.
At the scene, deputies saw Gillis approaching them and the victim with his 'left hand behind his back in an attempt to conceal something, while holding a Twisted Tea can in the right.'

At the scene, authorities shared that Gillis approached them with a hand behind his back and a Twisted Tea in another
Deputies added that 'on the streets' the Twisted Tea is considered a 'deadly weapon.'

The statement comes after a viral video showed a man using a can of the tea to assault a racist.
Gillis is said to have complied with deputies who ordered him to raise both hands, also informing them that he had the metal pipe tucked in the back of his jeans.
But while being arrested, Gillis 'surprisingly' continued threatening the victim.
He has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill, as a result.
