Five family members are found dead inside Arkansas home in Christmas Day homicide

At least five people believed to be from the same family were found dead inside a residence in Central Arkansas on Christmas Day in what sheriff’s deputies are calling a homicide.

Investigators from the Pope County Sheriff’s Office said they received a phone call at around 5:15pm on Friday indicating suspicious activity inside a home on the 5100 block of Pine Ridge Road near Atkins, some 65 miles northwest of Little Rock.

Deputies said that at least five people were found dead inside the home and that they are likely from the same family, though no further details were provided, KATV-TV reported.

An investigation is ongoing. The probe is being conducted by the Pope County Sheriff's Office as well as the Arkansas State Police.
