EXCLUSIVE: Jetski Romeo’s lover compares him to the Milk Tray man for daring journey across the Irish Sea to the Isle of Man from Scotland that saw him thrown in jail before Christmas

The sweetheart of the Romeo roofer who infamously crossed the Irish Sea on a jet ski to see her has compared him to the Milk Tray man.

Jessica Radcliffe, 30, posed with a giant box of the Cadbury chocolates for a Facebook picture on Christmas Day at her home on the Isle of Man.

She added a caption to the selfie snap taken in her kitchen, saying: ‘All because a lady loves Milk Tray, sorry I couldn’t help myself.’

Her daring lover Dale McLaughlan, 28 who was jailed for four weeks for breaking coronavirus rules by riding to the Isle of Man from Scotland, showed his approval for the picture, with the comment: ‘God damn Xxxxxx’.

The self employed roofer added a series of emojis with love hearts on a smiley face and pictures of flames showing his red-hot desire for Jessica.

The Milk Tray adverts famously featured a chisel-jawed hero dressed in black carrying out daring escapades, such as jumping off a cliff, fighting off sharks and wolves and escaping an avalanche on skis, just to secretly deliver chocolates to his sweetheart, along with a calling card.

The adverts screened from 1968 until 2003 finished with the slogan: 'And all because, the lady loves Milk Tray'.

Dale who is from Irvine, North Ayrshire, had earlier also compared himself to the James Bond style character in the adverts.

When one friend jokingly posted on Facebook that McLaughlan was like the Milk Tray man, he replied: 'I'm getting them done for copyright infringement'.

Dale met Jessica earlier this year on a night out when he was working legally on a contract on the Isle of Man.

But after returning to Scotland, he was refused permission to return to see her due to the island’s strict pandemic laws.

Dale famously took the law into his hands by buying a jet ski, and towing it 75 miles in the middle of the night through forest roads from Irvine to the remote Isle of Whithorn which is the closest point on the Scottish mainland to the Isle of Man.

He set off at dawn on December 11 on his 25 mile voyage despite being unable to swim properly and the sea being so rough that local fishermen had decided not to venture out.

Dale landed more than four hours later at Ramsey harbour with just ten minutes of fuel left and walked 15 miles to Jessica’s home at Douglas.

The authorities caught up with him two days later when he was arrested at her home and he was jailed the next day on December 13 for breaking local coronavirus rules.

MailOnline told exclusively last Wednesday how Dale was freed early from his four week sentence in the island’s tiny Jurby prison at 6am and was deported back to Scotland without being allowed to see Jessica again.

Manx-born Jessica said at the time: 'I meant it when i said i'd marry him if he asked me. Anyone who is prepared to cross an ocean to see you has got to be serious.'

She added, laughing: 'Mind you, I don't think I'd be prepared to do the same for him!'

The couple had explored ways to allow them to be together after Dale had served his sentence, and Jessica even contacted a lawyer on the island to apply for permission for Dale to return to her home for Christmas.

She said: 'We thought because he'd already isolated for the required time in prison that he'd be ok to come and be with us, but the authorities said he might be liable to being arrested again as he didn't have a permit to be on the island.

'I couldn't face him spending Christmas in a police cell, so reluctantly we agreed the best thing would be for him to go home to Scotland for now, but we're definitely going to get together again as soon as we legally can.

‘We've discussed making a home on the Isle of Man - I'm not going to uproot my children and Dale's children live in Scotland with their mother.'

Speaking from the ferry leaving the Isle of Man back to Britain, Dale told MailOnline: 'i'm overjoyed to be out. I’m just on the ferry home and I'm so happy to be coming home and coming home for Christmas.'

'But I can't really say anymore at the moment.'

Shortly after 8.30am on the day of his release, he changed the profile of his Facebook page to a romantic photo of him with Jessica.

McLaughlan messaged friends that he was hoping to meet Jessica soon, but where and when wasn't clear.

And Jessica in turn responded with a heart sign on her Facebook page.

She earlier revealed that some trolls had made unfavourable comparisons online between her and McLaughlan's ex-girlfriend, the mother of his two children.

She said in a Facebook post: 'I feel so embarrassed, the fact im even needing to justify myself on social media being told I'm a nothing compared to my boyfriend's ex.'

'I can't fathom why anyone thinks I think i'm beautiful or pretty, i'm my biggest critic, never would I class myself as better than anyone.

'Stalking my posts and ripping me as a person, everyone has their own opinion I wasn't born to please anyone.
