104-year-old woman in Spain hopes for 'good health´ after leaving hospital where she was treated for coronavirus
A centenarian has been discharged from a hospital in Spain after recovering from coronavirus, one year after overcoming influenza.
Video released by Gregorio Marañón Hospital in Madrid showed 104-year-old Elena being pushed on a wheelchair down a hallway as the medical staff cheered and applauded for her on Monday.
'I make a wish for good health, may it never be missing. And everything should get fixed, for good,' Elena said.

Elena spent 14 days receiving care from doctors and nurses in the internal medicine wing after she was diagnosed with pneumonia.
'She is a survivor. Last year she overcame a Type A flu influenza,' Dr. Alvaro Alejandre de Ona said, according to El Español. 'And this year she has overcome pneumonia, caused by a COVID-19 infection.'
'We have had her admitted here mainly because of her age, it was something that worried us,' he added. 'We are very happy. It is always a joy to see something like this end very well.'
Elena returned home, where she lives alone, the hospital said.

“For us, it has been an honor to look after Elena,' Alejandre de Ona said. 'It is a joy for everyone to see a patient like her come out, but she is a patient who has so many risks and in many cases of extreme gravity. But Elena a patient that, even if they are too old, they can be cured, and for us it is a huge satisfaction.'

During the epidemic's initial wave, the medical facility had more than 1,000 patients hospitalized. A second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic has led to the hospitalization of more than 2,300 patients.
As of Monday, Gregorio Marañón Hospital had a total of 96 patients hospitalized, including 23 who were under observation in the intensive care unit.
Spain has seen 1,762,212 infections and 48,401 deaths from the virus since the start of the pandemic, according to Johns Hopkins University.
