Melania Trump is 'in discussions about writing a White House memoir' - backed by the president - after her ex-best friend released a tell-all book about the First Lady

Melania Trump is reportedly considering writing a memoir about her time in the White House and the president is said to be encouraging her, after her ex-best friend released a tell-all book painting her in a negative light.

A source told Page Six the notoriously private First Lady is holding meetings on a potential book deal to spill all about her four years inside the walls of the White House.

They said Melania was 'not done, or going as quietly as you might expect' and was interested in the chance to earn money 'on her own'.

Former White House inhabitants typically make for lucrative publishing opportunities and earlier this month sources said Donald Trump was being offered deals worth around $100 million.

Trump is 'encouraging' his wife to pursue the opportunity to put her experiences down on page, the source told Page Six.

The insider said that the recent, explosive book from Melania's ex-best friend and adviser Stephanie Winston Wolkoff was a factor in the First Lady's considerations to get her side of the story across.

'In the wake of Stephanie Winston Wolkoff's betrayal, in both print and on secret tapes, Melania's story could be worth big money,' they added.

Wolkoff released her memoir about working with Melania, 'Melania and Me: The Rise and Fall of My Friendship with the First Lady', back in September.

The book revealed several embarrassing stories about the First Lady and detailed claims of a tense and bitter rivalry between her and her stepdaughter Ivanka Trump.

Wolkoff claims in the book that Melania plotted to keep the First Daughter out of photos of Trump being sworn in on his inauguration in a scheme dubbed 'Operation Block Ivanka.'

Elsewhere in the book Wolkoff claims Melania laughed during the 2016 campaign after the infamous 'Access Hollywood' tape came out and revealed Trump saying he liked to grab women 'by the p****.'

In the book, Wolkoff also said Melania uses a private email account, something her husband criticized Hillary Clinton for during the 2016 White House race.

Wolkoff also recorded multiple conversations with Melania during their time working together and played some of the audio during her book tour.

In one of the recordings, Melania is heard making disparaging remarks about having to decorate the White House for Christmas and about immigrant children being separated from their parents.

Melania hit out at the 'delusional & malicious gossip' after parts of the book were leaked not long before she spoke at the Republican National Convention.

Last month, she then penned an essay for the White House website, where she branded Wolkoff a 'dishonest opportunist' who 'clung' to her for fame.

She claimed the recordings were taken 'out of context', the book was 'idle gossip' and that she 'hardly knew' Wolkoff.

'A person who said she 'made me' even though she hardly knew me, and someone who clung to me after my husband won the Presidency,' Melania wrote.

In October, Attorney General Bill Barr's Justice Department announced it was suing Wolkoff saying she had broken a non-disclosure agreement by releasing the bombshell book.

As well as giving her side of the story, a memoir would be a lucrative moneymaker for the First Lady with former White House inhabitants often securing big-figure deals to give readers a behind the scenes look at life in the seat of government.

A source close to the president told Page Six earlier this month her husband was already being 'bombarded' with lucrative book deal offers about his time in the White House as well as offers from right-wing TV outlets.

The source said 'book and TV deals are plan-B if he doesn't win' his election legal battle, with deals worth around $100 million reportedly on the table.

No publishers have confirmed they are in talks with Trump for a book on his time in office and several are said to be concerned about working with him due to his divisive reputation and upcoming legal battles.

Trump has a number of pending legal issues including a New York State investigation into his finances, and a defamation lawsuit from E. Jean Carroll, one of more than 20 women who have alleged sexual assault or misconduct by Trump.

Meanwhile, former President Barack Obama's memoir smashed records as soon as it was released this month.

'A Promised Land' sold more than 1.7 million copies in its first week and 887,000 units in the US and Canada in its first day alone, breaking publisher Penguin Random House's records.

Former First Lady Michelle Obama also smashed records with her book in 2018 when 'Becoming' became the best-selling book in the US for the year just 15 days after it hit the shelves.

Obama and Former First Lady Michelle Obama are rumored to have bagged a $65 million deal with Crown in 2017 for their publications.
